Locke turned the wheel and went to Tunisia.

The only man in the "Real World" who can turn a wheel and send you to Tunisia is...

Pat Sajak.

/Jimmy Kimmel was actually funny last night.

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE

My memory is bad. Was Jack's son ever mentioned before, or was last night in the flash sideways the first mention of him in any reality? Not sure if David only exists in alternate reality , or if he might be in Jack's original reality too and I forgot him...

From what I can tell, this is the first time David's been mentioned. Presumably, David only exists in this alternate timeline.

13 more hours of LOST.

I hope there's lots more Crazy Claire. She's awesome with the bug-eyes and the axe.

Did anyone else see and ad from their local news talking about vampires on LOST? I saw one here in Denver saying something about it....

Crazy like a hot!

We couldn't remember if there was any previous mention of Jack's appendix or if that was just to show how far back the timeline-divergence goes.

Ooops, didn't finish.

Duh! Thanks. So it does show the change go back that far, probably farther (my guess).

The smoke monster is the good guy. We've only seen it attack armed persons. Jacob's Others have and will kill again indiscriminately.

Not the actions of good guys.

*SPOILERS*

Just like Hurley is super lucky in the new universe, things are not the same. I am not sure where they are going with this, for a final season that is supposed to be answering questions they spend alot of time making shiat more confusing than wrapping things up.

2010-02-24 11:32:50 AM
The only remotely interesting part of last night's episode was the giant wheel in the lighthouse. But I couldn't pay enough attention to it with all of Jacks OMGIMACTING going on in the background.

Hurley taking charge again was pretty cool, too.

Smokey also seems to give everyone a chance at redemption - before killing he always gives people a way out.

Smokey convinced me in the pilot; I'm with him for now.

I think the smoke monster is an evil spirit on the island who can inhabit a deceased person's body & use it to lead others astray. Claire said here dad told her the temple people had her baby, when he actually led her to abandon it. The appearances of Jack's dad previously on the island have to have been smoky manipulating others for his own nefarious purposes.

I don't really think there is a good or bad guy.. they're both bad and good in some ways as well. Although if I had to choose a side, I'd go with MiB and not Jacob. Apparently Jacob doesn't care one whit that *spoiler if you haven't seen last night's episode* apparently everyone at the Temple is about to be killed.

/both sides are bad
//so vote republican

No, he wasn't. He was unarmed and injured.

I couldn't understand why Jack freaked out so much at the lighthouse. It was a little over the top. Personally, I would've played with the thing for awhile before smashing the mirror. Then again, I'm a bit of a voyeur. Giggity.

We never saw what exactly grabbed and killed the pilot. It was implied it was smokey, but it was never on screen in that scene.

Agreed. They are using the people on the island as pawns.

The first person he killed was the injured 815 pilot still strapped in the cockpit. I do not remember, was he armed?

Yup, Cloverfield monster will show up in the finale.

Torrentius: We never saw what exactly grabbed and killed the pilot. It was implied it was smokey, but it was never on screen in that scene.

Unless there's another monster on the island that's never been heard from again after that scene, I think we can safely assume it was Smokey. but as TFA mentions, Cuse and Lindeloff were supposed to kill Jack rather quickly, it's possible they had a change of heart concerning Smokey's motives too.

2010-02-24 11:50:16 AM
Jacob supposedly has been watching all these people all their lives. He has endeavored to bring them to the island through whatever means necessary. It could be a case of lesser of two evils. Jacob wants to keep MiB on the island, and not able to reach the outside world. He needs help. Maybe there is something special about all these candidates, but judging by the lighthouse, there were 360 people and their offspring that he has been watching all this time. Maybe he has screwed up their lives out of necessity, as one of them has to carry on the line of keeping the devil in it's cage.

That's far more weird than some crazy chick who dressed up some animal skull in her baby's crib, IMO.

iirc, I read that he is going to be one of the main leaders this season.

Smokey was just trying to save us from more seasons of "Heroes".

I know CrazyClaire is crazy, but why doesn't she remember dropping Aaron on the ground and traipsing off into the jungle with that floozy of a father of hers?

So LOST is essentially a scifi/fantasy "As the offspring revolves", with long lost relatives, hidden identities, amnesia, helicopter crashes causing amnesia... Right?

What if Jacob has been appearing to Ben all this time but like Hurley and Jacob, no one else can see him? And like Hurley, Ben has kept mum about Jacob being around.

Ben has been doing everything under Jacob's orders. He even killed Jacob Dumbledore-style.

Remember when Ben pushed the donkey wheel and he said, "I hope you're happy now, Jacob." What if Jacob was in the room along with him, egging him on to turn the wheel.

Poor Ben. He has been a pawn from the start.

I thought last night's episode was great and it made me like Jack again. I really hated him the past 2 seasons but it seems like he has a purpose now instead of just whining and doing his shakey head "I'm serious" acting.

Although the one part with Kate brought the episode to a screeching halt, she has just become a terribly boring character. She was ok for a most of the series, never my favorite character but somewhat interesting. I just cannot take her anymore.

joyride75: I know CrazyClaire is crazy, but why doesn't she remember dropping Aaron on the ground and traipsing off into the jungle with that floozy of a father of hers?

Because the others took her to the Temple to heal her. [Ed: Dogen probably said "she pleases me, bathe her and bring her to my tent"].

When Kate asked Richard to do the same to Ben, back in '77. Richard said to that this would wipe Ben's memory. Presumably, this caused Claire to have the same amnesia.

Well, Hurley is 8, and with #4, Locke, gone, perhaps Jacob is grooming him.

I don't find this theory very convincing. An armed person is not necessarily an evil person, as your post would suggest. The Others do not kill "indiscriminately", that is a gross exaggeration. Also, Ben could summon Smokey, which would suggest that it used to be at Ben's service, even if the only time we witnessed it being summoned was when Ben needed it to kill evil people. A goodie working for a badie to kill badies doesn't sound persuasive to me.

I think reducing Lost's premise to a mere "Good vs. Evil" doesn't do the show justice.

2010-02-24 12:02:54 PM
Kar98: So LOST is essentially a scifi/fantasy "As the offspring revolves", with long lost relatives, hidden identities, amnesia, helicopter crashes causing amnesia... Right?

Mostly it's free will versus fate, science versus faith and the degrees of good versus evil. If someone has been manipulating your past is your future your own? If you kill someone now to save whole groups in the future, are you still evil? Stuff like that.
