"Someone could sponsor it, but not change the name."

Well, at least SOMETHING sane was said. I'm sick of all the renaming going on with classic stadiums.

Big toilet?

yeah big toilet, if you haven't seen the plans for it, you should find out where you can...its farking hideous and i really can't comprehend why anyone would WANT a stadium to look like that...

AT least they aren't going to rename it. I am just totally grossed out by 3COM Park, and United Center, and Staples Center and all those other dumbass names for stadiums.

Why is it that stadiums used to be named after famous people but now in this day we have to have sponsors name stadiums!?!?

Why does that suck sooo farking bad and no one is doing anything about it!?!

They plan on sticking a huge bowl inside, and sticking up above, the existing stadium. The architect's drawings look remarkably like a giant toilet.

They are getting sued. Apparently there is some sort of law to preserve the architectural integrity of the Chicago skyline. Converting a war memorial into an ad for Tidy Bowl would seem to be a prime example of what it was intended to prevent.

Good news is that the Chicago Fire are probably going to be breaking ground on their own stadium next month, so "boo yah, Chicago Park District, boo yah!"

where did you hear this about the CHicago Fire?
Do you know where the stadium is going to be?
It better be on the North Side!

I think it was on the last MLS Extra Time, or in Jeff Bradley's Boot Room column on ESPN.

The leading site, and the one almost sure to go through, is a new stadium at Arlington Park.

thats fine i guess, i'm not too far from there. I wish it was downtown though. And i wish the fvcking bears would get another place and Soldier Field became a Fire ONLY stadium and that they would convert it into a REAL soccer stadium with REAL goals and not those cheap ass portable ones!

Dammit, why couldn't Daley have been the mayor of Denver a couple years back when they were deciding to build "Invesco Field at Mile High" with taxpayer money?

I agree about the corporate names... the least they could do would be to take a cue from Pittsburgh.

The new Steeler stadium is Heinz Field. Corporate, yes, but also Pittsburgh.. Heinz ketchup is a staple of the area, and Heinz is definitely a staple in the area, just like Carnegie and Mellon.
