This news has me all shook up.

No photos of Elvis dressed up like a Jihadist anywhere. Makes sense to me.

It is asinine that parents would name their children after terrorists.

2010-02-23 11:14:59 AM
Blame the terrorists and those whom love to look like them, or praise them by naming their kids after them.

My 4 month old white baby was explosive sniffed, searched, and 'scanned' when we went to the embassy. So, don't pull the 'islam/muslim/mideast' card with me. Won't work.

Did I blame security? No, I cursed terrorists, and those believe as they do.

Won't you let me be your teddybear?

2010-02-23 11:17:33 AM
Well it's obvious the scanning machine just can't help falling in love, because he looks like such a brown eyed handsome man...but he's really the devil in disguise.

It's not like Muslims are going to stop calling their sons Mohammed any time soon...

It's not news, it's CNN.

White pages search for Joseph Stack:

"Whoa, over 100 results found!"

Yeah...those parents are sure asinine. I mean...how absolutely ballsy to take a VERY common first name and pair it with their relatively common last name. Sheesh.

/TFA doesn't even mention 3 year olds, or searches, or names of terrorists
//It does mention a hunk of burning love.

And instead of taking this information as a good hint that things need to be changed quickly if the system is going to stop forgers, the standard reply is 'we believe our system is very secure and meets all the standards'. When this was first being developed
the ease of spoofing these chips was demonstrated but ignored, looks like things haven't changed.

SignumCrucis: from the article:

"Passports, and the ability to fake them, are back in the spotlight after the apparent use of false documents during the gang assassination of a Hamas militant in Dubai in January."

Nice way to let anti-semitism slip into that article.

Seig Heil CNN!

I believe they used the word "gang" because there were eleven assassins.
Would the description "an over attended assassination" be better, do you think?
And as for anti semitism, who was assassinating whom, pray tell?
Or would "coordinated murder" be better? Let's ask Emily Post.

Well give your ID card to the border guard
Now your alias says you're Captain Jon Luke Picard

Cause he won't speak english anyway

I used to hate having such a hard to spell and hard to pronounce last name until Ted Kennedy wound up on the no fly list. Now that there's apparently only one other person with my name in the Googlesphere, I don't have to worry about getting mistaken for a terrorist. Well, at least not based on name alone.

Isn't the plural of Elvis "Elvii"?

There was a jerk TSA officer in Orlando when I was leaving on the day before the Superbowl this year. I walked through the metal detector and the beeper didn't go off. The agent gave me a stern look and said, "I need you to go through again sir."
As I was going back around, I said, "I didn't hear it go off--may I ask why?"
He replied, "Your shirt."
As I walked through again I asked what part of my shirt would require me to go through the metal detector again. He smiled and said, "You're a Colts fan."
I was wearing a Colts shirt. That dick thought that it would just be absolutely hilarious to fark with me because I was wearing clothing with the logo of a sports team that he didn't like. What a douchebag.

We are so farked.

This is the beginning of the end for privacy. The only solution will be to standardize the security, which means sharing the data internationally, which means everyone will have to participate, which means eventually the government will sell all the information to advertisers and then we're all just farked.

What an ugly world that will be.

Difficulty - a kid with such a name will likely get beat up in school by Nicky, Vinny and Tony.

Even Todd, Kyle and Tucker will get a few cheap shots in before they get their asses kicked by the first trio.

/also AFAIK there is no way of knowing whether or not a name is on the "No-Fly List" without finding out the hard way
//of course, there's always the option of putting a silent Z somewhere in your kid's name....

I'm pretty sure that I can call him Yusuf Islam and get him flagged by the no fly list, It'd also be a kinda cool shout out to my musical inspiration Steven Georgiou. I'm also curious if Abdelbeset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi is on the no fly list, It'd not get the outrage at most US hospitals if I put that on his or her birth certificate that Osama or kalid Mohamed would and I could call the kid Del.

I used to tell people to put their Red Sox hat back on if I was divesting at the walk through and tell Yankee hat wearers to take theirs off.

That was before we implemented all hats off.

Ahhhh...I miss the good 'ol days, I tell ya...good times, good times.

Depends on what you'd describe as a "ha ha funny joke"

We're not all devoid of a sense of humor, you're actually much better off with one in this line of work.

SignumCrucis: The word choice was deliberate.

It was a selective assasination, which is the official term for such an operation.

11 people is not excessive for a coordinated state sponsored action.

Hamas are not "militants" they are terrorists.

(facepalm)
Okay, so now it's anti-semitic if you call 11 people murdering a person a "gang assassination", even though Israel have not taken responsibility for this action yet, even though plenty of Jews do not support the actions of the state of Israel, and even though we have no idea if the assassins are actually Jews. What the fark is wrong with you?

There are only two organizations which have admitted to assassinating public officials (elected or appointed) of other countries - the CIA and the Mossad.
