Considering the intolerence of gays in the US military it's no wonder the Dutch want to leave. They have a lot of Dykes.

2010-02-22 04:50:28 PM
Don't know about the sex act but, in aviation, a "Dutch Roll" is an instability mode that occurs when there is too little vertical stabilizer on an airplane (such as with loss of rudder).

I hear they got confused by a hill.

Yeah, but that's back in the homeland, not abroad. Do you know how hard it is to get a dyke out of the country?

Not for the first time, this makes me wonder why America is still in the NATO alliance. What's in it for us, now that the Soviets are gone? The EU is developing its own military formations apart from NATO anyway, so why shouldn't they handle their own security from now on?

Yeah, sorta that. Same reason the USN is so ridiculously huge. If you're so powerful that you can't even be challenged, everyone else just kinda keeps their heads down and minds their business. We like it that way. Everyone plays nice with North America and Europe and has their little brushfire wars in Africa and Asia, and the nukes stay in their silos and the tanks stay home.

Um, excuse me, but the whole reason that the Dutch, Canadians, etc. are in Afghanistan is because of the 9/11 attack on the USA and the NATO principle that an attack on any member state is an attack on all of them. What's "in it for you" is that the rest of NATO carried on the Afghanistan fight for you while you went WMD-hunting in Iraq.

(if you were trolling I give it an 8.5/10)

The Polish troops were given the opportunity to go home, but they unanimously decided to remain in Afghanistan.

There're only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

Market Garden fell on it's ass for many reasons. I hardly think the Dutch were responsible for any of them. Blame that egotistical British poofter leading the show. Montgomery had an even bigger problem with image than Patton and the failure lies in his ability to scope the whole campaign and base it in reality. Ike saw this and never let British command of US troops happen again in such a large scale.

EdNortonsTwin: Our list of allies grows thin!

Not really
we (the dutch) decided that enough is enough in the case of Uruzgan especially after we stayed 2 years longer than initially agreed upon.
The Netherlands never had or will have the financial recources to engage in the kind of long term force projection that the big boys can.
It's nothing personal, but we're out for this round guys.

That's not the spirit your forebearers showed when they grew most of the food for the nazi war machine during the occupation.

yeah that was cheap but sometimes people need reminding freedom isn't free. And the fastest way to lose it is to try and defend it on the cheap.

Thank you. Seriously. I'm amazed that some countries have helped the US in Afghanistan as long as they have.

Really what is the point of NATO? The Soviet Union is gone, and after Iraq most of the world thinks that we get what we deserve and are reluctant to help us. Let us thank George Bush for spending our political capital on a useless endevor and creating more terrorists for us to fight. I hope the miltary contractors cut him a nice check and hell has reserved a special place for him. Oh wait this is the thread where we hate the Dutch.

2010-02-22 09:38:40 PM
Damn straight! The Dutch need to get their butts OUT of Afghaniland! Who is guarding all of their incredible breweries back home? The thought that terrorists could blow up the Duvel of Chimay breweries fills me with dread! So, get those Orange Boys home where they belong doing what they are supposed to be doing, defending Great Beer!

The Netherlands have certainly helped us longer in Afghaniland longer than we helped them in World War II. If anything we now own them!
