The government redacts things that it considers embarrassing or that may cast them in a poor light? Color me shocked.

Just about everyone carries a camera with them on a daily basis now, cameras are beyond cheap these days.

What happened to all of the UFO sightings? shouldn't there be more now.

Like so many movies before my time have stated, if they're smart enough to visit us, they're smart enough to stay the fark away from us. We're aggressive, ignorant and arrogant -- and that's not one civilization in particular, that's nearly all of them.

Really, if you were them, would you risk several years, decades, centuries, traveling just to have some savages fark it up for you? No.

Any country with a well established, profitable religous organization will never allow the truth to be told to the public. As long as commercial religion has a strangle hold on the undereducated masses we will never be allowed to know the truth.

The knowledge that life exists beyond what some people beleive to be created by the magical man in the sky will never be allow as long as religion is profitable.

Life exists beyond Earth...deal with it...God is just pretend and is made up to make people who are unable to understand science feel better.

THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF PHILIP J. KLASS

To ufologists who publicly criticize me, ... or who even think unkind thoughts about me in private, I do hereby leave and bequeath:

THE UFO CURSE:

No matter how long you live, you will never know any more about UFOs than you know today. You will never know any more about what UFOs really are, or where they come from. You will never know any more about what the U.S. Government really knows about UFOs than you know today. As you lie on your own death-bed you will be as mystified about UFOs as you are today. And you will remember this curse.

You realize that real aliens wouldn't want to work at EZ Weddingz chapels in Las Vegas, right?

I don't believe in UFOs being alien craft - we're making this sh*t up because we're never happy. "God's dead, hey it wasn't angels - it was aliens!"

Humanity needs to leave the kindergarten.

Meh, they checked stuff out and they're done observing. They've decided that when they blow up the place to cleanse the universe of a malignant force that nothing of value will be lost.

/except teh kitties but they saved them already

Yes, we are the most advanced beings in the universe. You need to leave your superiority complex.

I believe in aliens. The universe might as well be infinite for all our puny human brains can comprehend. It has to be a virtual impossibility that there isn't life out there.

But did that life break the laws of physics as we know them to create faster than light speed? Did they make the trip to earth? Would they care enough about us to hang around? And did most importantly, our dumbass government successfully cover it up for 60 years? Clinton couldn't get away with a blowjob from the intern down the hall. The last two paragraphs in this post are two completely separate ideas.

The government would much rather us believe in aliens than whatever experimental aircraft they're developing.

Mugato: And did most importantly, our dumbass government successfully cover it up for 60 years? Clinton couldn't get away with a blowjob from the intern down the hall.

What we need is a government formed completely of climatologists. They've kept people biting on wacky conspiracies for more than 35 years now. Plus, they have more discipline to not squeal on their fabrications than any group in known history.

Life is a property of matter. There is matter everywhere. Life exists pretty much all over the universe, I think... They just have the same limits we do, and the chances that any life-form would bother travelling here is what I don't believe. Especially if those aliens have to deal with the same kind of anti-life Deathoid anti-life-enxtension nutters we have here.
/Unless you meant they're not aliens if they already live here...

When I look up at the endless stars I realize that it is not impossible that somewhere in that collection there is another intelligent species developing, do I believe that they are navigating the void to earth in order to use anal probes on our varied collections of hillbillys and rednecks? not so much

And you know this how?

It's absurd to throw the idea out that some race out there has their shiat together enough to develop really cool tech and likes to travel. The universe is pretty farking big. If they're flying spaceships I'm sure that being covert is not that difficult for them.

2010-02-21 05:24:25 PM
I'm pretty sure that there is, was, or will be life somewhere else in the universe. Leaving aside the problem with distances, I just find it highly unlikely they'd be around here at the same time we are.

Then again, I find a 10,000 year window to be a smaller crack than my poor brain can imagine.

Gawd, how badly some people are limited in their thinking. If only they could step out from behind the bondage of their own egos for one moment to consider the real possibilities.

/Let them limit themselves to issues of matter and energy. I really don't care.

FarkinNortherner: In fifty years of ever improving image recording and ever wider availability, nobody has produced a credible image of any form of alien encounter whatsoever

And virtually everyone in the country has a camera in their phone. The problem now though is that with PhotoShop or AfterEffects, I could whip up an alien encounter unintelligible to the real thing for most people. Same thing with ghosts, bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. Photo and video is worthless nowadays.

I do not find that to be sufficient evidence to disprove the theory.

I think about it in terms of technological progression. Look at the rate of how quick we develop technology and the history of it. It is an exponential curve throughout human history. A race that has even a thousand years longer (more likely a lot longer than that) would very likely have all sorts of crazy stuff. A race like that would have an overwhelming advantage to perpetuate itself since it could travel and live on different planets. It just makes more logical sense to me that this type of thing is out there rather than believe that we have slipped under the radar and avoided detection. Of course nobody knows for certain.

Several of those weren't proven true. For example, because some idiot said, "hey - we could pretend Cuba attacked us," and someone else said, "no, dumbass, it would not work, and even if it did it's too risky we'd be found out," only proves other conspiracies LESS likely, not more so. Northwoods was NOT executed.

Some of the others are only "proved" in that someone was earnestly insisting it is true. That's not proof.

2010-02-21 06:59:46 PM
I wish the US government would fess up to the existence of Groom Lake to shut up the Area 51 conspiracy theorists. Why can't they just say, "there is an airbase in Nevada where we do testing of classified experimental aircraft"? You can't really claim that that would compromise security since other governments know that already.

/kudos to MoD for showing the theories are all a crock.
//The UK has a Freedom of Information Act? Hopefully it doesn't suck as much as ours.

vygramul: Some of the others are only "proved" in that someone was earnestly insisting it is true. That's not proof.

And others weren't what you'd really call "conspiracies" either, case in point, the Manhattan project. Unless you want to call all secret/ts/sci/usap etc "conspiracies" just because they're not public.

/have a picture of a once-conspiratorial screwdriver on the wall at work
