In other news, Sarah Palin is as dumb as a bag of hammers, and should she decide to run for President, we are in for truckloads of awesome entertainment.

I guess the former governess of Alaska has forgotten all the fun with Danny Boy Quayle and the old Murphy Brown show.

Apparently, Rush Limbaugh is a satirist, and Seth McFarlane is not.

The obsessiveness of Palin by the left is astounding. The attack dogs were never put back into the pen. My theory is that the left likes strawmen so much they are attempting to keep Palin in the spotlight to attack her instead of real issues.

So the left told Palin to take a job with Fox? The left told Palin to be outraged at a cartoon?

Oh, I get it, you're a Palin-American. Now it makes sense.

The way that the rightwing continues to defend Sarah Palin against any criticism, no matter how valid & relevant, is astounding. The spin machine was never shut down. My theory is that Republicans love this woman so much, because she so accurately represents them, that they haven't been able to "put her out to pasture" yet.

And go on national television to attack Rahm Emanuel, then subsequently defend Rush Limbaugh for agreeing with Emanuel. Then, of course, that crazy leftist Bill O'Reilly had her on his show to attack Seth McFarlane, just to keep her in the spotlight for the left to attack her.

I'm sorry, WHO'S keeping Palin in the spotlight? She went on f*cking Bill O'Reilly to respond to a CARTOON. She's setting herself up with a Fox News gig where they're building a studio INTO HER HOUSE.

She's YOUR retard. You can't foist someone like that onto the public and then expect everyone to ignore her. I'm sorry you've tethered yourself to a total know-nothing idiot, but you can't toss red meat to the wolves and expect them to look away.

Hobodeluxe: It was a good show last night. Wanda was funny. Seth was hilarious.

I don't know about Wanda. I don't think she helps anyone with the whole "it's all about him being black" routine. Republicans have had no trouble showing extreme fear and loathing for any Democrat, regardless of color. And while I don't doubt that their hate for this particular Democrat is exacerbated by his color, it's surely not all about that.

Sounds reasonable, that is if you disregard the fact that she is a media gadfly busily seeking out the spotlight. However, you are probably right, it was part of a vast leftwing conspiracy to get her a gig on Fox News.

/your theory needs reconsideration in light of reality

It seems so. That has always been the left's tactic though. You still hear butthurt over Lieberman and the 2000 election. The only reason Bill won in 92 was Perot but you don't hear the vile hatred for him from the right.

I was worried for a minute - the average number of Palin threads was getting dangerously low*.

*A quick headline search shows that she first showed up here on 4/18/2008 and has had at least 857 greenlit threads about her since then (search = +Palin -Michael) - that averages out to 1.27 Palin threads per day. For reference, "Bush" showed up (search = +Bush Topic=Politics) on 5/20/2002 - probably due to how things were categorized - and has 2833 threads, or about .83 per day.

Your reference is flawed. Since Bush was the president for 8 years, any thread that had anything to do with his administration would have to count as a thread about Bush so the count for threads about Bush should be quite a bit higher.

Add "Administration" or "President" to the search between 2001-2008. A great deal of Bush headlines never mentioned him by name.

Your methodology is flawed.

She's the one who had to blog and go on fox with all her righteous indignation at Rahm Emmanuel over what he said in a closed room to a bunch of guys he knew and then had the temerity to give Limbaugh (a man who speaks to millions everyday) a pass because his mocking and funmaking at their expense is satire.

Seriously

You can't say she didn't ask for it.
That she got her ass handed to her by that actress was just instant karma as far as I'm concerned.

Grungehamster; Really? Maher's show made fun of Sarah Palin? Who would have guessed?

That's what I say, too. Maher is the Rush Limbaugh of the left. Same farking MO. Believe in my political dogma, or you are wrong. Insult and belittle anyone or anything who disagrees. Only whereas Limbaugh is more righteous than thou, Maher is hipper than thou.

The obessiiveness of Palin by the right is astounding. The Knights of St. Palin will jump on any "derogatory" statement even ones so benign like "I don't like her hairstyle". My theory is that the right thinks she'll personally visit their trailer homes with nothing but a towel on and have hot sex with them in an attempt to take the spotlight off on how woefully ignorant and hypocritical she is.

I don't got all day. And even so, a thread about the person themselves is just as valid a comparison.

But here: searches for "+administration -bush -obama" add 87 more hits, but most have nothing to do with Bush. Even if you add another 1000 hits, it still doesn't get you up to Palin levels.

Ironically, Family Guy is produced by and airs on FOX...

It's almost as if they are playing the two sides off one another for profit.

She's not a strawman. One of the major parties in this nation put her up to be the ready replacement President, behind the oldest, most-cancer-surviving man to ever run for the job. They did this to the cheers of the right. Very nearly 60 million Americans voted for this.

We're supposed to ignore her now?

Maybe it was the quality of the video, but Palin seems to be aging in President years. This happies me on a few levels. One, I can't wait to see how big her following of teabagging yokels will be once her looks really start to go. But given her staggering level of attention whoring, is there any doubt that she would have lots of surgery done to remain in the public eye?

If there is a God, Palin will end up as a Jocelyn Wildenstein-type disaster by 2016.
