Wow. That IS a miracle. I guess in this day and age, anything is possible...

Now, artificial what?

Now that we've got artificial hearts that work, and may outlast their users, how long do you think it'll be before we see these things turning up on the FARK classifieds?

"Used heart for sale. New battery, valve job, tune-up. Only 4,541,184,000 beats, ready for another 5,000,000,000! Must see to appreciate!"

Miraculous, still NOT IRONIC!!!

I had White Castle yesterday after the Princeton band post, and mmmmmmmmboy, was it GOOD!

says the heart runs on batteries... i sure hope they're using energizers.

as far as the used ones... i guess it stands to reason, when they're done with them, why not give it to someone else?

If I was given a second chance on live, the last thing I would do would be to further hasten my departure by eating that crap.

Yet another misuse of the IRONIC tag. I guess some people just can't grasp the elusive nature of true irony.

2001-09-26 10:45:36 AM
Would it be ironic that people don't know the proper use of the IRONIC tag?

Winter: I noticed that as well - Speedy Christerson??? Didn't he used to play for the Vikings? -grin- Maybe not.

Diogenes: No, that would be .

That picture of the Christiansons is screaming to be photoshopped. Look at the expression on the old woman's face! "Raaar!"

Speedy does not look to speedy any more. I also wonder how she got the name and why her husband needed to have a heart transplant.

he's got a freaky scared look on his face. its the panicked look of "i could literally die at any moment".

oh and the irony bit? it was used to be humorous, and in that sense fits.

i·ron·ic (-rnk) also i·ron·i·cal (-rn-kl)
adj.
Poignantly contrary to what was expected or intended

the guy could die at any moment. white castle burgers kill. he ate a white castle burger and did not die as one with an artificial heart, a whitecastle cheeseburger and a single fingernail hold on the mortal coil would be expected to do. its kinda ironic, given the definition above.

but maybe i'm wrong.

That's not ironic, it's just stupid. True irony has to be a bit circular or self-referential. Like, someone getting run over by an ambulance.

that headline is so hikarious.

2001-09-26 04:21:30 PM
hilarious.

The heart is artificial - White Castle burgers
can't do it any harm!

He gets many "style points" in my book.
