President Obama! He captures evildoers!

(Did he murder those Afghan civilians the other day?)

I look forward to Dick Cheney going on TV and telling us (1) Obama is a failure and is making the world more dangerous and (2) we should torture this guy.

He should try and get the guy tortured on TV! Americans would love that

Terrorists killed: Well YEAH. Now we can't "interrogate" them. Great job Obama!

Terrorists captured: Oh sure. Make them martyrs. Great job Obama!

I think it runs off the Limbaugh 2.0 scripting language.

Limbaugh 1.0 (pre-2009 version) had it all backwards. Saying those things made you anti-American. BIG BUG.

It's cute that you think that Obama captured him.

It's cute you probably think Dubya kept us safe with his rock.

The Pakistani ISI taking out the head of the Quetta Shura is a huge deal. It's like the Gambino Family turning on the Lucheses instead of renting them the rooms to hide out while the cops are lurking.

DamnYankees: I look forward to Dick Cheney going on TV and telling us (1) Obama is a failure and is making the world more dangerous and (2) we should torture this guy.

I'm predicting more of a "First Obama says no torture, then when we actually get a person of interest, we're forced to let the Pakistani's interrogate him. All because Obama is too much of an elitist hypocrite to admit than the enhanced interrogation techniques are necessary."

Yeah, I know, way too complex to make it onto a Teabagger sign, but I'm sure some conserva-douche will be making this argument any minute now.

Baloney. You don't know how to hold your tongue.

But honestly, your comment was silly. You're trying to connect things that are way out of scale and context with each other.

Obama is such a fool and going about this the wrong way. We should set him free. If he comes back, he is ours. If he doesn't, it was never meant to be.

I'm glad they caught this prick, but I'm also a little amused. It seems we capture a new "#2" every month.

These guys have all the shelf life of Darth Vader's #2 and seem to be replaced just as easily. Not an enviable position.

This is a transparent ploy by the BHO administration to trump trivial issues to divert the attention of the American public away from the important issues.

Slightly (only slightly) more seriously, the guy was asking for trouble for being in Karachi anyway. There is a sort of tacit agreement that if they stay in NWFP (Peshawar) or Balochistan (Quetta), the internal security forces won't really try to come looking for you.

GaryPDX:
Yea, we'll come back to this when a dirty bomb gets set off in some major city.

Why do you lefties think there is no risk?

Because terrorism has killed approx. 4,800 Americans over the course of the last two decades and car crashes have killed two hundred times that? I'll be worrying more about my Toyota than Osama, thanks.

// hey podunk towns, you're not terrorist targets
// maybe if you lived in DC or NYC you might have a little something to worry about
// but probably not

You may be right (I may also be getting the Taliban vs. al Qaeda #2's confused). Regardless, their rank and file system seems quite bizarre.

To put this in WW2 terms: We catch Stilwell alot. We went and captured Marshall this time.

He's a refreshing change from our usual gang of marine core soldiers, naval aviators, and special forces commandoes. I disagree with him sometimes, but I respect his opinion.

okay srsly wtf is going on in Marjah. Some were saying days ago that it was over; some are saying there aren't enough attack helicopters to deal with all the firefights! Some are saying the Taliban has been driven out; some are saying they're getting close enough to shoot mine-removal vehicles!

goddamn man. how paranoid are you that you need to add a partisan element to even something thats a collective good?

you like to think of yourself as a patriot but spin it however much you like, scream with your comebacks but the fact is you & your kind are the cancerous rot that will kill your own country.

February 2010: Taliban top military commander captured in Karachi by US and Pakistan forces.

And some are saying this is a very fluid situation at the moment, and to simply believe everything you read about it before the smoke clears is a pretty stupid thing to do.

Bit of a difference there, chief.

/not much, but there is a distinction.

2010-02-16 02:18:12 AM
The officials said that Pakistan was leading the interrogation of Mullah Baradar, but that Americans were also involved. The conditions of the questioning are unclear. In its first week in office, the Obama administration banned harsh interrogations like waterboarding by Americans, but the Pakistanis have long been known to subject prisoners to brutal questioning.

Can they at least de-louse him before another KSM-esque mugshot?

2010-02-16 02:18:18 AM
GAT_00: DarthBrooks: chemical_angel: They sure have a lot of those.

Well, first it was Klaatu, now it's Baradar.

We just have to capture Nikto and we're done.

I'm not sure how, but you were too slow to that.

That being said, I await the comments on how badly the Obama administration is handling this war.

Well at least they stopped counting the dead.

felixecho: And now there will be a new guy. And so on, and so on, and so on.

There are a lot of folks in here confusing the "#2' thing with Al-Qaeda.

Al-Qaeda is the one with the 'NEXT #2' thing. That's their bit. The Taliban is a totally different animal. Capturing this guy is a staggering blow to the Taliban.

And GARY PDX seems willfully ignorant about that difference. That was made clear with his 'underwear bomber' quote. The Taliban had nothing to do with that. That was an Al-Qaeda production.

Learn the difference.
