Sounds more like a pagan than an atheist.

An atheist? Where? I don't see one anywhere near this article subble.

By definition, if you worship ANYTHING, you're not an atheist.

Fail, subby.

You'd think Titan or some other moon would be more appropriate for worship. Saturn is a shiathole.

No true. An Atheist can worship woodland spirits. Many Buddhists are Atheists.

But most Atheists practise Atheism in its purest form.

What I find bemusing is that many believers in the major religions (Christians, Jews, Muslims) also believe in ghosts that sort of wander the earth, haunting houses, things like that. Dante's Inferno and Paradise Lost are not religious works. Also, many religious people seem to believe that the quantity of prayer somehow affects the probability of physical events, as if Jesus is running a sort of game show like "The Running Man": if he doesn't get 515 prayers about cancer-boy before tomorrow at 10pm, he's pulling the plug on that kid.

I missed that part of the Bible.

What's wrong with people who openly believe in an afterlife also believing in ghosts?

Seems pretty afterlifey to me.

Ghosts do exist, but they're not the dead. Rather, they're evil spirits who exploit people's superstition. Same goes for dreams and so forth about loved ones who've died recently.

This is because there's a difference between superstitions and religion.

The belief arises from a lack of knowledge that's reinforced by deception.

Not likely. Ghosts exist in the mind. They're not affected by the environment. The tinfoil hat does have an effect, but it's merely a placebo.

You need to be careful. "Ghosts" are imposters. If you encourage the manifestations, you may end up being unable to stop them if things turn unpleasant.

No, of course I have. My point was that both his "Atheism is a Religion" and "My surname is Le Trôle" bits are hackneyed BS. Blows my mind what some people consider entertainment.

It's like walking out into traffic every day and continually being entertained by the fact that people honk at you and flip you off.

That's not an accurate analogy.

It's more like standing on the side of the road holding a placard with a simple statement, and then marvelling at the number of obsessed and fixated loons who then circle the block for hours just to shout abuse.

letrole: It's more like standing on the side...

Nope. It would only be like that if you had a blog with the statement at the top and I came by your blog and posted comments about it regularly.

You are walking around Drew's house, constantly walking into every room where the discussion has anything to do with atheism, and stating clearly for all to hear, "Atheism is a Religion". Then you think it's funny when the people in that room say, "Jebus Cripes, STFU, do you have to walk in every room and say the same exact bullshiat over and over and over?"

fatassbastard: airplayne: Then by your definition there are no atheists.

Well, here are a couple of definitions that would fit well in this forum:

-love unquestioningly and uncritically or to excess; venerate as an idol.
-a feeling of profound love and admiration.

Anything or anyone could literally be worshiped. And anything or anyone you put into either of those definitions becomes your god. Therefore, there is no such thing as an atheist.
