Would have been a better story if the police had to use a potato gun to shoot the sorcerer with a frog.

A Ju Ju Man is often a person who believes in supernatural powers - basically superstition. Some practice Voodoo. Some are just way whacked dudes who smoked more than fish. Some groups consider them as medicine men or witch doctors. Other Ju Ju men have just eaten way too many Jujjyfruits. As for the turtle... in many cultures the rarest or most valuable animals are believed to hold supernatural powers - bring good luck, etc. Some are sacrificed as offerings to Gods, Goddesses, Ghosts, etc. Some are just killed because they look nifty hanging on the wall. If you'll excuse me, I have to go feed my giant sea turtle now... ;)

Thedamndog

I thought it was carying the world...

/obscure ancient Egyptian view....

2003-04-17 07:16:30 PM
isn't it supposed to be 4 giant pink elephants on the back of the turtle?

2003-04-17 07:30:38 PM
Doc:
That a reference to that old dopey cartoon or the 'mats?

2003-04-17 07:32:42 PM
I'm pretty sure it's Indian, not Egyptian.

2003-04-17 07:33:12 PM
Why did I laugh out loud at the part "Mario's job at risk" ?

2003-04-17 07:34:35 PM
I thought the turtle was the bad guy in Mario...let me know when the navy rescues a mushroom from a turtle. The Mario can complain. Or he can go back to being a plumber.

/bored.

2003-04-17 07:40:34 PM
The headline doesn't make sense :```(

There are no turtles in mario just koopas :```(

2003-04-17 07:41:23 PM
THANK YOU SAILOR!

BUT OUR TURTLE IS IN ANOTHER CASTLE!

/got nuthin'

2003-04-17 07:43:33 PM
Bowser is as much of a turtle as Toad is a mushroom. So I submit that there are turtles in Mario.

2003-04-17 07:44:48 PM
Hmm...now I want to go play Mario 3 again. Man that was an incredible game.

2003-04-17 07:45:40 PM
I'd have to say SMB2 was my favorite.

2003-04-17 07:46:43 PM
Sidi: Are you sure it's not just your repressed fantasies about running around in a raccoon suit?

Or was that just me?

2003-04-17 07:47:44 PM
Hmm, 2 was ok...but the storyline was all screwy (due to it not really being a Mario game). Plus it always drove me nuts that they screwed up the sprites on the vegetables. The color of the leaves is different when they're in the ground and after you pull them up.

2003-04-17 07:48:28 PM
Nah...I loved going and beating on the second player to steal his turn.

2003-04-17 07:51:18 PM
The turtle is played.
And Bowser was part turtle, part ankylosaurus.

2003-04-17 07:55:34 PM
Yes I agree SMB2 had its problems, but I just enjoyed the more animated looks on the character's faces. I also like the RPG aspect of it, it was replayable as you could choose a different character for each level.

Though SMB3 did take the drug parallel thing one step further with that "leaf" that turned you into a racoon.

2003-04-17 07:56:25 PM
And what about the island where everything was gigantic? Three was all about the drugs...

2003-04-17 08:05:14 PM
Pmuse: Doc: That a reference to that old dopey cartoon or the 'mats?

The old cartoon. I don't even know what "the 'mats" are. Is. Am. Whatever.

2003-04-17 08:06:56 PM
Needs more cowbell.

2003-04-17 08:13:49 PM
Good headline.

2003-04-17 08:43:13 PM
Suicidal_Elmo

I thought that was a tribal Native American myth.

/could be wrong.

2003-04-17 08:47:09 PM
SMB
1) Mushrooms
2) Leafs
3) Fire Flower
4) Giant Killer Turtles
5) Toad with his Rasta Cap
6) Giant People Level (SMB3)
7) Crazzzy background.

The list of drug things can go on and on

2003-04-17 08:47:33 PM
SMB 3 is sickening after a while going through every world... After three hours you get a headache and you're only in world 6! Thank God for the warp pipe thing

Good headline

Btw, anyone remember Communist Mario?

2003-04-17 09:13:18 PM
I think the reference that doc made was to Terry Pratchet's disc world series of books. In the book the disc world which is a weird sort of earth shaped like a disc is carried on the back of a giant universe travelling turtle who has four elephants on his back on which the disc of the world rests. Pretty interesting reads pretty hilarious too.

2003-04-17 09:31:14 PM
thedamndog, milkyd
welcome to the small group of discworld readers on fark..

2003-04-17 09:31:17 PM
