Howabout an old church that was renovated into a strip club? Hows that for beautiful irony?

Look no further than a club called "Anthony's" in Nashville, TN.

Take that, bible belt!

How many fathers take unusually long bathroom breaks during the sermons?

Church. Check.
Stip Club. Check.

All that's needed is a currency exchange, and you have a ghetto. I'm from the hood yall.

"How many fathers take unusually long bathroom breaks during the sermons?"

They said a stip club is next door to the church, not an elementary school. LOL

I couldn't resist that one.

Don't they have zoning laws in Canada? I know where I live you cant have a strip club near churches or residences.

I had a friend who did an internship at another place in Toronto called Urban Promise, similar set up actually, except they were above the strip club IIRC... they do a lot of good work with inner city kids in Toronto...

Entertaining. However, it wouldn't do to get the places mixed up and try to put 50 bucks under the priests cassock. Unless you're an alter boy, or course.

A friend of a friend's family owns a nice little watering hole called Grendel's Den in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA -- caters mostly to the student crowd. (Great food, great prices, even a decent veg selection -- I highly recommend any Eastern MA Farkers check it out. They're famous for the fondue.) Well, there used to be an Armenian Catholic Church right next door (moved next town over to Belmont about a decade ago), and the church didn't much like being next to a restaurant that served alcohol, so there was a fairly nasty fight with the Cambridge licensing board over the matter. Grendel's won, and as I said, they're still there; the church is long gone.

I'm sure there's a lesson here to be learned about the meaning of christian charity... something along the lines of turn the other cheek and live and let live....

Ya know if more churches were like this one, maybe I wouldn't be so against them...

Here in town (lexington ky) there is a little church beside a porn shop, across the street is a strip club as well as another porn shop and down the street is another strip club... and a steak house, classic arcade store, and a lighting store.

those tag, unlikely what? I don't get it. Oh well.

Maybe more churches should do this so their priests will stop raping children for Chrissakes.

I'd be willing to look the other way if my priest smoked a little pot or got a lapdance once in awhile (or everyday).

Just don't rape children, guys, OK?

Jerking off in lieu of anal violation of an altar boy. NOW that's a covenant G*d should have made with his people a LONG time ago.

They will eat hot cross buns.

No hot cross buns in our strip clubs!

Don't bother with this club, the House of Lancaster down the street has a lot more skank for your dollar. Cheaper beers and a bigger selection of ladies for all your lab dancing needs.
Club Paradise the two or three times I've been there was lame.

OK. I live at that intersection in Toronto. Club Paradise is not as warm and cozy as they make it out. I've never been in for fear of my safety but I think I have a pretty good idea of where this place sits on the "Classy scale".
The people from this church on their "Prayer walks" look more like a protest than an attempt at salvation. It should also be mentioned that there is a Value Village accross the street (Which is widely known hangout for the social elite) and a crack house (sorry rooming house) with possibly the most gun shots I've ever heard in Canada.
"The most eclectic corner in Toronto". This place is ghetto, so let's not sugar coat it.

2003-04-17 10:06:41 AM
Actually, Donald_McRonald, this does give new meaning to the term "hot cross buns", doesn't it?

It's shameful that this thread has to descend into nun fetish and altar boy jokes. Why can't Fark extend the media frenzy tag from shark stories to Catholic scandals? Just like how mountain lion attacks still happen and aren't picked up by the national media, so also are abuses by clergy of all other religions. Yeah, I know I'm gonna get beat up on for saying this, but the objectivity just isn't there.

2003-04-17 10:13:42 AM
My hometown had a ratio of about 3 bars to every church (I believe we counted 4 churches). Population: little over 3,000 people. One church is directly behind a bar--they share the same driveway. In fact, you see the bar first then go "Oh my, there's a church right there!" Unfortunately for the men in our town, alas, there was no strip club....
