Can somebody please explain to me how and when the National Enquirer became a credible news source?

When I was growing up it was just a bunch of cage liner that made me feel dirty just looking at it. Did it come under new management just recently?

They only have credibility as far as THIS story goes, as they were the first to break the actual affair. For all other stories, including BatBoy, they have none.

National Enquirer has always been a little more truthiness, and a little less let's-just-make-something-up-and-get-it-to-press. Their gossipy stories are occasionally true.

I'm not telling you how I know that. If I'd seen this personally, that would mean I'd read several tabloids for an extended period of time, and compared their levels of BS. I would never do that.

God, it's like the past 3 years or so have all been piled high with shiatty affairs. The creepy diaper guy, then the Argentinian Trail guy, then Edwards, who is a king-sized douche. Oh, and the guy who hired a hooker.

The horror. Does having an affair disqualify you from holding political office? If so we need to get going on a shiatload of retroactive presidential impeachments.

Do you have examples of stories they ran that turned out to be true? I'm not saying you're wrong. It's just the idea that the National Enquirer can be a reliable news source is (no pun intended) news to me.

WFern: I'm not sure trial attorneys are all bad. Edwards himself represented a girl whose guts were literally sucked out by a faulty pool drain. Hard not to support.

I was one of the first people on the scene of the pool drain accident. I'll tell you that was horrible. The little girl's dad came out to meet the truck carrying his daughter ... her intestines were in his hand...

Well, the problem is they break about four or five news stories a week, many of them anonymous and/or single sourced, and it's impossible to tell the wheat from the chaff. For example they claimed that Bush was back on the sauce in 2005. Not true, but how can you tell? With all the tabloids, when they do hit the mark, it's only because they shot and missed the target 100 times.

He is not the Tiger Woods though. Sarah Palin maybe can help this situation by helping to raise this child like she helps to raise the two grandchildren of her including the one that is retarded.

Your grammar is horrible.

You're right, of course, but if they keep throwing darts, once in a while they'll hit something. When they get a hit, they ride it for all it's worth.

Who said it's cool? But of the modern presidents, the ones who seem not to have had affairs are: Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, and Bush Jr. America is not so awash in political talent that we need to disqualify anyone who might be able to do a good job (not that Edwards is one of those).
