"I saw a lady on T.V. She was born without arms. Literally, she was born with her hands attached to her shoulders... and that was sad, but then they said, "Lola does not know the meaning of the word 'can't.'" And that to me was kinda worse... in a way... ya know? Not only does she not have arms, but she doesn't understand simple contractions. It's very simple, Lola, you just take two words, you put them together, then you take out the middle letter, you put a comma in there and you raise it up!"

Birth mother is a biatch if the deformity was the reason she gave him up.

2010-02-10 11:36:05 AM
Maybe the birth mother didn't have sufficient insurance to pay for the medical procedure needed to correct this deformity.

Agreed. Aiden is the name of a kid destined to be a giant douchebag. Or gay.

Maybe they are, but I don't think Donald is going to be uber-popular again.

That's what I was wondering, since it seems that technically it wasn't such a crazy problem to fix.

I'll vote for "Don" over "Aiden" as a name too. "Aiden" (and all the endless "-aden" "-adyn" variants) are just way too played out right now.

Poor little thing.

The surgery is pretty painful for an adult. I hope that is is a lot easier on an infant.

2010-02-10 12:32:36 PM
Naming the kid "Aiden" is child abuse, and these people should not be allowed to adopt him.

They should have named him a nice, chinless name... perhaps Frank Burns!

upright_apes_r_us: He has a surgically formed chin, but his mother appears to be spineless.

Yes, she was spineless because she didn't have the means to take care of a child with an acute medical condition.

She should have grown a pair, gone into bankruptcy and life long welfare to take care of her precious bundle of joy- who would likely never have recieved the medical treatment he needed because his mother was too poor to afford it, and state medical assistance doesn't cover reconstructive surgery.

Instead she betrayed her own flesh and blood... and gave him up, who as an orphan immediately garnered the sympathy of a medical team or wealthy adoptive parents who had the rare beast known as medical insurance.

How disgusting that she might choose to scarifice her parental rights for the well being of her baby... She should be shot.

Ikahoshi: state medical assistance doesn't cover reconstructive surgery.

Are you sure about that. Maxillofacial surgery (specifically mandibular extension) is generally covered as a required surgery especially if the patient is currently impacted by the problem. It really isn't re-construction or elective at that point. Insurance even typically covers that surgery for adults.

yea, it is another vote for Don over Aiden or any other -den variation name. Jaden, Jayden, Aiden, Maden (is that one real?)

Cool story bro.

Props to the birth-mom who passed on him so somebody who actually cared could take over.
