It's common for people to fall of their balconies there.....?

But.... why hasn't anyone done anything about this?

You know - issue everyone with a piece of rope and a couple of nails, or something? Maybe, perish the thought, a better railing?

Falling from a great height is a messy way to die. All that energy you gain on the way down -- if you hit a flat surface your body explodes like a ziplock bag filled with spaghetti.

Balcony collapse is a serious problem. Dozens of people every year are hurt due to BC--some evn die. I think with enough awareness and education, we may be able to eliminate BC in our lifetime.

"Media reports say the women were 'found in a heap' by a security guard."

Brutal.

A woman's husband dies from a crane tragedy, in and of itself not a very likely thing to have happen, and then she is killed herself, only 3 years later, when another woman falls 27 stories, and lands directly on top of her such that they are "found in a heap."

Not a very lucky woman -- or very lucky, indeed.
