I don't know, the one with the Titans player coming up a yard short of the endzone is pretty epic too.

I dunno... Does this one not count, since it's technically not a "screen cap"?

Regardless, much of America wanted to see them win -- and buy their stuff.

And people tell me I'm crazy when I claim the Super Bowl is a scripted event and the Saints were scripted to win this one. That it is not about players, teams, or coaches, but about one thing and one thing only. Money.

Football it is as real as Wresteling, but with better marketing.

Ouch, that's gotta hurt.

Not surprising. In '92 when UNLV was in the final four there were shirts being sold making fun of thier players and their unscrupulouos coach Jerry Tarkanian that were produced and distributed by a company owned by UNLV guar Greg Anthony*.

*They made him rich BEFORE the alumni money.

OK, first of all, you're crazy.

Secondly, I failed to see Godell giving Payton Manning the old "rub the chin twice" sign to throw a pick-6 while driving for the tying TD. Tell you what, go up to any NFL player and tell him you think the NFL is rigged and that he's nothing more than an actor. Assuming he doesnt break you into a thousand little pieces I'll listen to what you have to say....

/If the Colts would have won you'd be claiming it was all Manning sponsors pushing the buttons to secure a win.

So, the Saints' win is creating work in Indianapolis. Good news, since that place is, in many respects, just another rusting midwest dump.

I wonder if more Saints gear will be sold than what would have if the Colts had won.

I also wonder what Governor Jindal will do with his Indianan shrimp cocktail.

/Hope he makes Étouffée with it
//At least they're working in Indy, and not crying into their beers at TGI Friday's

According to NYT, there was a major shift towards the saints in merchandise ordered by retailers and the NFL estimates at least 100 million to be sold.

After the NFCC/AFCC the saints outsold the colts by 80%

And I hated to root against Stover (I'm a Baltimore fan) but I couldn't support him winning after leaving the Ravens. He's a really nice guy though (I worked at the training camp for a season).

You think that no has been in the league would have come out and said this to make a profit yet? There are 53 players on every roster not including the practice squad and other guys who come in off the street throughout the season after players get injured. You're telling me not one person in the history of the NFL would come out with a book (like Jose Canseco did regarding steroids) to uncover this fraud in America's largest sports league? That is one huge conspiracy.

Well that didn't take very long for Saints fans to morph from long suffering likeable sadsacks, to 'gee we're really pretty happy for you now that you've won cool guys' to 'we're the greatest to ever do ________' in the history of the NFL' douchebags.

Hmm, short-term memory loss? As I recall the Ravens didn't want him because he was too old to kick a 50 yarder. He didn't "leave" the Ravens. They chose Hauschka. If you have anyone to biatch to it would be the Ravens staff, not Stover.

Kind of like the 2001 Superbowl when the Patriots (14 pt underdogs) beat the heavily favored Rams a few months after 9/11?

The only script to that one was for a movie called "Mike Martz is a farking moron" which features a headstrong offensive coordinator who refuses to give the ball to his best player, played by Marshall Faulk.

It that were true, they should have won in 2006, the first season after Katrina. They made it to the NFC championship that year. Besides, if the NFL were "fixed", there was no way the Giants would have beaten the Patriots.

A team from the largest TV market for any NFL franchise with a young QB with the name "Manning" upsetting the unstoppable juggernaut with a cold, calculating head coach and his evil minions? Naw... (How in the hell you would "script" that ridiculous Tyree catch is beyond me.)

yeah, sorry, like Yanks said- if you have a problem with "handing" the Pats a title, take it up with Mike Martz.

Besides, everyone knows that nothing could have comforted New Yorkers after 9/11 more than a New England Patriots title... If the terrorists ever blow up Boston (and I hear that lite brites are still pretty easy to procure) it would really lift our spirits if the Jets would win the super bowl, right?
