Because Drew Brees is the greatest man in America

I once saw him give his house to a homeless man who simply asked for a nickel.

1. What's the point? Doesn't every ESPN Radio affiliate preempt Cowherd?
2. If no, then why the hell not?

2010-02-08 12:56:35 PM
Cowherd "samples" everything The Dan Patrick Show does, and has nothing worthwhile to offer on his own. Brees should have lost the game for even talking to him.

I'm partially kidding.

Drew Brees is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life.

All hail Breesus!

I can't figure out who's worse - him or the douche Jim Rome who preceded him and had the hubris to think Fox could build a credible network around him.

Cowherd is at least listenable.. at times. Patrick is a class A douchebag that nobody should listen to.

No Cowherd got the slot back last year because ESPN Radio needed him in NYC to attract advertisers despite the fact no one in NYC cares about him.

Mainly because nobody in NYC gives a hoot about College Football Talk in April & May during Baseball Season.

/feels bad Michelle Beadle has to work with that jackass.

Colin Cowherd's Ridiculous Analogy Show: Pete Carrol is a type-A guy! USC! I increase the pitch of my voice as I speak so everything sounds like an excited question!?

Cowherd would rip off Carlos Mencia.

I pour Brees's man juice on my cereal for extra longevity...

I seriously doubt it keeps him up at night. I get the feeling it's more of a "Well, fark you, too!" situation. I'm sure that being on a team that actually appreciates him is the ultimate middle finger to the Giants.

Yeah, I'm sure that's keeping Giants ownership awake at night too since they just won one two years ago while he was pounding beers in the luxury box.

Why exactly should they have appreciated him anyway? His attitude? His failure to show up for offseason workouts? The absurd number of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties he got? Badmouthing them publicly before the Super Bowl because they wouldn't stop off in Miami to pick him up with the team plane?

He can go fark himself.

A lot of hate for the Herd in this thread. Apparently you listen to his show often enough to hate it?

/Can't hate it that bad if you are listening
//More listeners = More longevity and money for Herd.
///Herd seems to be a arsehole sometimes but I like the show.

Once hurt, Shockey no longer felt like he was a member of the team. The Giants didn't consider him a member anymore, they wouldn't let him go down to the field, ride on the plane - take part in the activities of the Super Bowl.

The Saints, on the other hand, resigned a guy that has two destroyed knees and couldn't actually play a down if he had wanted to - because Deuce McAllister is a Saint. Period. They love him. He is family. And they wanted him to share in this moment, win or lose.

Can you blame Shockey for wanting to play for a team that would do that for an old player?

Kipple: Can you blame Shockey for wanting to play for a team that would do that for an old player?

Deuce is an extremely well-liked guy by EVERYONE in the NFL, let alone the greater Saints family.

Apples and oranges, really.

/Shockey might be a nice dude, but his on-field persona certainly doesn't exude such.

I stopped listening to Cowherd after I listened to his rant about milk. In a nutshell, he doesn't trust milk because he can see through it, or some such nonsense.

I'm not making this up.

Just because he might be the best thing on in a particular coverage area doesn't mean he's good.

Hold on, let me go get you another bit to chomp on, you've obviously worn that one out.

/I never said they SHOULD have appreciated him, I said they didn't, which you support.
//Down here, he's very appreciated and hasn't done a damn thing since he got here to give the team or himself a bad name.

-He didn't ride the team plane because he was in Miami. They chartered him out there.

-They didn't let him go on the field because he was on IR, and on crutches. None of their other players on IR were on the field, they were in the stands, unlike Shockey, who was in the owner's suite.

-Injured and inactive players do not take part in Super Bowl activities.

True, I can't argue that everyone loves Deuce. I've been cheering for him since his college years at Ole Miss.

But, I have to say - the treatment that Shockey got during that Giants Super Bowl opened his eyes. I don't think it was abnormal at all - in fact, it is what most teams would do to an injured player. BUT for Shockey? 1. He realized "holy carp, they can do this without me. I'm not the second coming of the holy one." 2. He desperately wanted to find a team that would be a "Team" - not a job. The Saints offered him that. For all purposes, he seems to mesh rather well with his fellow players. 3. He realized the only way to be a member of a team, was to stop being a pretentious jerk. He might never perfect that, but he has brought the level of "jerk" down quite a bit.

jbc: Cowherd

Here in a small market, we don't really have any "local shows" (only local programming they do is local sports teams live events, and an hour show on local teams on Saturday mornings).

I think most major markets ESPN Radio channels replace everything after Mike & Mike with their own local angle shows. All the rest of us get Colin.

Hmmm. Strange. He seems to be quite happy here. He is a cooperative contributing member of the team and an asset to the community. I wonder what happened. What's changed?

The day Herd moved to the top of my shiatlist was when he dismissed the passing of legendary Grambling football coach Eddie Robinson as inconsequential. He pretty much said that Robinson never made a mark on the college football scene worth discussing, which is completely wrong, of course. Then there was the DOS attack on The Big Lead, and his totally irresponsible comments following Sean Taylor's murder.
He continually compares himself to both Limbaugh and Stern, which is laughable at the very least. No matter how you feel about those two, Cowherd isn't even in the same stratusphere as them. The guy is a tool.

A Super Bowl Ring!!
