MissFeasance: I can't get into the feed :(

Imagine a space shuttle sitting still on its launchpad.

Ah, there we go.

Anybody been watching for awhile? Does it look like it's going up or are there weather violations or other constraints?

You can plug the mission audio link directly into vlc

2010-02-08 03:52:37 AM
Oops... what was that about unexpected errors?

2010-02-08 03:53:13 AM
Oh, NO unexpected errors. That's better.

2010-02-08 03:53:52 AM
Can't get in the audio or video feed...are we still on? I need to know so I can put on my pants and go outside.

2010-02-08 03:54:50 AM
Well the audio's been silent the entire time...

2010-02-08 03:54:53 AM
MissFeasance: Oh, NO unexpected errors. That's better.

They say that every launch about this time. Caution and warning memory cleared with no unexpected errors. I think they clear their board so that if something does happen they are aware of it. or something like that. I don't really know what it means but it's normal.

I am. Something was apparently wonky with my windows media, I've got it now.

And funnily enough, my very Boobies ever on Fark was on 3/20/07, when the Spacex Falcon launched.

2010-02-08 03:59:03 AM
Launch director just said weather is now GO.

2010-02-08 03:59:59 AM
This works well too (new window)
still in the 9 minute hold, all is green at this time.

2010-02-08 04:00:02 AM
OK, I'm game.

My brother lives in Ormond Beach, FL and has gone to the Cape to see at least one night launch there. He testifies it is farking awesome.

OTOH, he has been able to sit in his back yard with a cold beer or two or so and witness the same as it rises above his subjective horizon and says it is pretty damn cool, as well.

So, I'll just sit here online and experience it vicariously from Iowa. It's still pretty farking cool.

If it weren't for me wanting to more definitely want to be around to see my grandkids grow up, I'd do most anything to be on that bird into orbit. Oh, yeah.

2010-02-08 04:01:39 AM
No constraints to launch

2010-02-08 04:01:54 AM

It was awesome. My Grandfather was part of the booster retrieval team in the 80's and early 90's. I have patches for every single space shuttle launch.
