Only problem I have is the very end, which directs viewers to the Focus on the Family website, where I'm sure there will totally not be any biased and hateful massages regarding abortion (along with other Religious Right trash) =/

Aside from that, yeah, it's pretty tame.

I found the Puppy Bowl ad against neutering much pushier.

Sturm UND Drang? Who do you take me for? Lorenzo di Medici?

Pick one!

It's not so much the ad itself, but the fact that the network has refused in the past to run left-leaning ads citing "Not wanting to run divisive ads"

Also, because it features the overrated, whiny, should-have-been aborted Tebow.

so next time someone wants to run a left leaning advertisement, the network should let 'em do it.

They should-but I'll believe it when I see it; they've already refused in the past.
I really don't care what they run-but if you set and quote policy about not doing it for one side and run the others', then you're hypocritical.

we can cross that bridge when we get to it. If the network refuses to run a left wing ad after doing this right wing job, then I'd say they've got a serious problem. it's fairly easy to organize an advertiser boycott and pressure the network to stop being hypocritical bastards.

FotF just put up a video with their CEO interviewing Tebow and his mom about the ad:

So it's the OTHER one that will mention abortion? 'Cuz this one didn't - saying "he almost didn't make it into this world" could mean any sort of hard birth or congenital defect situation.

Dunno, like I said earlier, yeah, this one's very tame and doesn't mention anything remotely controversial (except maybe for the last part which sends viewers to FotF's site). But guess we'll just have to wait to see what the other one shows.

Not one man has ever had an abortion, only women. So tell me what an ad against abortion is doing on a show watched mostly by men.

2010-02-07 04:50:03 PM
Um, this is the ad that NOW was so worried about? I will have to say this, this is by far the most sensible message that has come out of an abortion debate. I don't see why Pro-choice advocates were so offended by this ad. The woman had a "choice," and she chose life. Now she wants others to consider her "choice." Meh, I have nothing negative to say about that, and Pro-abortion advocates should hang their heads in shame for stirring this story up more than it should have been.

Deadhouseplants: Meh, I have nothing negative to say about that, and Pro-abortion advocates should hang their heads in shame for stirring this story up more than it should have been.

first off - its 'pro-life' not 'anti-choice'. knock that shiat off. And secondly, nobody takes the national organization of women seriously anymore. They completely destroyed themselves back when they stood by Bill Clinton and defended him against monica lewinsky. I don't think NOW is leading the charge for the pro-choice folks anymore either. about the only thing they CAN do is act hysterical over inconsquential bullshiat that nobody cares about. you can safely ignore anything ever said by any NOW spokesman, secure in the knowledge that they never say anything worthwhile to anyone about anything.

CBS turned down a pro-gay ad for tonight's Super Bowl. It was for a website named Mancrunch, but still.

Again, that's not the point, the problem is that CBS is selectively refusing political ads.

Read the next page. It basically says that people who are gay are sinners and should not be allowed the same rights as straight people.

Pretty sure that falls under "biased and hateful". But thanks for playing.

Yeah - and i'm pretty sure SCOTUS said that's perfectly legal. Remember that whole dust up about corporations having 'free speech'? welcome to the application of said SCOTUS ruling.

thanks SCOTUS! f*ckers.

Um -- not only was the ad approved long before the SCOTUS ruling, the ruling was about corporate contributions to political candidates or parties. Nothing whatsover to do with ads or commercials.
thanks SCOTUS! f*ckers.

I'm sure they were bit shocked when the idea was initially conceived but instead of canceling production just a few weeks into development, they went through with the full production. Good for them, not many studios are capable of making that decision.

Bully for Pam Tebow choosing not to have an abortion. Just because that's the right choice for her, doesn't mean that it's the right choice in every situation, nor does it mean that it couldn't have turned out very differently for her and Tim.

Remember, if you are diagnosed with a high risk pregnancy and you choose not to get an abortion and you end up with a developmentally disabled child rather than a Heisman trophy winner, it can only mean that God hates you and you're a bad person.

"CBS turned down a pro-gay ad for tonight's Super Bowl. It was for a website named Mancrunch, but still."

I think that was one of those "submit a crappy ad that will not be approved so it goes viral thus saving the company zillions of dollars" deals.

I just complained to the FCC about that commercial and I suggest everyone here do the same. The Janet Jackson thing got like six complaints, if we get a couple of hundred, we could demand change and maybe get it.

DO IT NOW !

Good luck. USA Today's live poll has the Tebow ad ranked at No. 3 out of all the Super Bowl ads:

Who was the 2nd place vote-getter for that Heismann Trophy? I bet he's super-duper-pro-abortion now.

Um...did this even air? I watched the entire Super Bowl from kickoff to when undercover boss started airing, and didn't see it.

The were so many ads with ugly men in tighty whities during the superbowl that it is unlikely I will get knocked up today. I have never been LESS turned on in my life.

Also, The Boy is passed out, half on the floor half on the couch, so it's looking even more unlikely.

/Should I take his shoes off?

Seriously though, I didn't even know I was watching the ad because it way short, and everyone in my family was trying to tell my deaf grandma what the snickers commercial was trying to sell. So I didn't hear any of it.

I thought I was watching an e-harmony commercial until I saw the fotf url.

Still stupid nonetheless.

Look, I don't care if you have a political view on abortion. But trying to encourage frightened mothers across the world to ignore the advice of their doctors, hoping that their baby will be a sports star, is one of the most repugnant things you can do. What about all the children that aren't healthy little football players? What if Tim Tebow had been born without a frontal lobe?

Go take a farking leap, Tebows.
