The people of Venezuela got into the street in mass and stopped the american backed coup to illegally overthrow Chavez. That was an amazing show of support for him.

Cheney was one of the most unpopular politicians of all time. If there was a coup to get rid of him most people would probably help him pack his suitcase.

How the US backed coup to remove Chavez failed

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Venezuelan_coup_d%27%C3%A9tat_attempt

clip -

Prompted by the spreading news that Chavez had not resigned, Carmona's installation as President generated a widespread uprising in support of Chávez that was suppressed by the Metropolitan Police.[5]

It also led to a demonstration outside the Presidential Palace by hundreds of thousands of people. In contrast to the opposition marches, "it was the poor from the peripheral barrios who returned Chavez to power."[42]

Ouch.

Now thats gotta sting.

Maybe.

I'm pretty certain that the wrong statements on Twitter could land you a trial for uttering turristic threats in the land of the free and the home of the brave. That's the Patriot Act for you.

So... Glass houses.. etc.

Cheney was one of the most unpopular politicians of all time. If there was a coup to get rid of him most people would probably help him pack his suitcase.

Most people helping would also be summarily arrested, tear-gassed, or shot also for trying to do so to Cheney. If the people truly wanted them removed in the US, there are legal avenues of doing so. Despite what you may feel, this didn't happen which means the people either:

1-Really don't care
2-Aren't motivated to do anything
3-There really wasn't any reason to remove them from office and "how bad they are" is highly exaggerated or falsified.

The difference with Chavez is that there are no legal avenues to overthrow him or remove him from office. The only plausible way is an actual "illegal" coup.

As Chavez becomes more and more erratic and unpopular, many of his outside-of-Venezuela supporters are quietly drifting away. After all, they signed on to support an elected leftist politician not an authoritarian thug and bullshiat artist. Actually I give those people credit for catching on to what was going on. Historically, that hasn't always happened.

savage_world: After all, they signed on to support an elected leftist politician not an authoritarian thug and bullshiat artist.

That's what leftists do. They first blame the wealthy for every problem, cause formerly self-sufficient people to become beggars, and when they have thoroughly broken their people's spirit, they methodically take away their rights to so much as complain about their plight.
