I still haven't seen Avatar, but if it's as detrimental to the fabric of American society as the right wing blogodome says it is, I'll spend my money instead on that movie where Sandra Bullock turns that fat kid into a Christian. My faith in my own beliefs is tenuous enough as it is.

The average American citizen is an intelligent, hard-working person when a Republican wins the presidency.

The average American citizen is an idiot that's been brainwashed by the liberal elites when a Democrat wins the presidency.

But it's the Democrats who are condescending, of course.

As a non-partisan, unaligned voter, I have to ask why Mr. Obama allowed avowed communist, James Cameron, to make a movie that besmirched the honor of our nation's corporate citizens?

It's as if Mr. Obama is somehow trying to actively pursue a Bolshevik plot, or something.

2010-02-05 11:42:11 AM
So essentially what this article (and other, related Avatargarbl articles in general) are saying is that the American people are too damned stupid to understand the hidden messages that the liberals are inserting into movies. They are also saying that the American people need to be educated on liberal tactics and stay on constant alert so that these liberal tricks can be found and denounced, for the people are weak willed and malleable.

Pundits and rags like the NRO are basically saying that America needs a "vanguard party" if you will, in order to root out threats to our way of life and promote "correct thought" in personal beliefs, media, and culture.

In short, as time goes on "conservatives" are behaving more and more like the Maoists they despise.

Can anyone tell me why the "peaceful" characters in the movie (Ripley and the rest of the Avatars) spent 5-6 months with the Navi (or more) and never once said "Oh by the way, our planet is sending all of it's troops to move you by force." There was not one attempt to buy the Navi off with glass beads. NOT ONE!!! If they were all so against that kind of thing, wouldn't they have given some type of a heads up to the Navi?

/expected it to be anti-corporate like Aliens was. Not anti-plot.

All they wanted was an extended lecture about the evils of corporate America and the cruelty of the military, and some gassy pantheistic blather about the need to get back to nature.

I thought that was a bootstrappy Republican dream.

James Cameron is also Canadian, so in addition to all the other charges, why isn't he doing more to secure the border against those evil Canadian film makers?

no, the bootstrappy republican dream involves a small group of corporate elites who control the entire world with impunity with the rest of us living on dirt, as in, back to nature.

Was Birth Control 2 Major Tom: Yes, because there's no historical precedent for the rapacious greed depicted in the movie, you greedy little bloodsucker.

In that historical precedent, didn't the white oppressors at least try to move the indians with promise of peace and glass beads?
When was that represented in this film? Seriously? I remember it in Dances With Wolves, why not in this space version of the movie? Or did I just miss that part?

Avatar is a rousing endorsement of Castle Doctrine, and a damning criticism of eminent domain. Conservatives should love it.

Not sure which is more impressive--

The continued ability of the left moonbats to continually not understand what Jonah Goldberg is saying, or

The propensity for the threads demonstrating that left moonbats cannot understand what Jonah Goldberg is saying to get greenlit.

I absolutely love watching conservatives trying to rationalize how that never-failing force for good, The Market, could ever benefit a message they don't agree with. You can almost hear the fuses popping in their little heads as they try to fit that idea in there.

Last night, I watched the Swedish film Lilya 4-Ever. I was appalled at its blatant denunciation of human trafficking. There are independent, bootstrappy entrepreneurs trying to make inroads in this industry and movies like Lilya 4-Ever are essentially destroying this industry with a bunch of weepy liberal hogwash. Moviegoers lap this up and become brainwashed by the anti-slavery message it depicts. It almost caused me to think twice about my defense of human trafficking, but then I remembered how much I'd like to abuse a frightened, teary-eyed foreign girl and my bootstrappiness re-asserted itself. It was close, but I overcame the effect of this propaganda. YOU CAN, TOO!

The Kingdom, another War on Terror movie, was a hit despite the best intentions of director Peter Berg, who wanted it to be a parable about the cycle of violence. It succeeded because it was a good action movie that depicted Americans as heroes.

Goldstein's effort is a good example of how critics and historians want to impose significance on films that may not be there.

Just two paragraphs between those statements. The whaarrgarbll, it is strong with this one.

It's a bit funny, then... yes your face IS funny.

So let me get this straight, James Cameron makes Avatar and this asshat labels it as an attack on corporate America.

But the same James Cameron also made True Lies, where Aaarnold takes on those pesky middle terrorists who want to set off a nuke. And he also made Aliens and sends in the baddass Ripley with the help of the equally baddass Colonial Marines to take on those pesky facehuggers.

Did this asshat complain about these two movies?

Lighten up Francis.......
