For anyone who wants to watch that, just fast forward to 4:00 to watch the throws.

The rest of it is pointless filler.

The Marshawn Lynch one was cringe-worthy. That man cannot speak English.

The way the Colts have been defended against for the past several years, keeping their possessions limited and shortening the game with runs...is like limiting a Ferrari to city streets. The Saints, however, are wanting to see if the Colts Ferrari can run with their Porsche on the Autobahn. It will be good to see that Ferrari get to actually put the gas pedal all the way to the ground. Sweet dreams, Porsche fans.

Has everyone already written the Colts off? Because thats all Ive been hearing for the last two weeks. I dont care either way but all this crap talk, mostly from the media, makes me hope the colts really do pull a hurricane katrina on the saints ass.

I_C_Weener: Colts Ferrari

Yeah, well that Ferrari's got a nail in its tire.

I hate to keep harping on it, but you really should get that looked at before taking that sucker out on the Autobahn.

Everything is all good, except Olympic archers fire from four times a longer distance, almost an entire football field(hail mary distance). Put any Olympic archer at 20 yardage and you will witness pwnage.

I was personally wondering if you were trying to hit clay pigeons with either a football or a bow and arrow, so I was pretty disappointed with the link.

So your saying Drew Brees is accurate. Yea I agree. But theres a reason Peyton Manning is the best qb of all time. Its because...Hes the best qb of all time. that category includes Brees. Who aint there yet.

This is the source of my dislike for the Saints. When they made it to the NFC Championship a few years back, you never would have known Chicago was even playing from all the pre-game hype. Outside of that, I bear them no particular ill will.

I've spoken to no one, casual fan to super-fan that has written anyone off in this game. Most people say: shooting match. It has the elements of a freakin' classic in the making.

bobwhiz: Everything is all good, except Olympic archers fire from four times a longer distance, almost an entire football field(hail mary distance). Put any Olympic archer at 20 yardage and you will witness pwnage.

I don't care, that was a cool video. Besides, they have sights, counterbalances, flights, and a machine to guide the arrow. He's got his body and a giant egg.

You're dumb. Standing completely still and shooting a bow is not even comparable to the mechanics of throwing a football. Add to that the end of the football is way wider than the point of an arrow, and the fact he hit the bull's eye 10 out of 10 at 60 feet is way more impressive.

2010-02-05 11:44:32 AM
Just because he's accurate doesn't mean his receivers are.

I really don't watch sports. I never have. Especially football. (Soccer/Rugby Player, Football is too damn slow).

However this is the first SuperBowl I'm actually interested in watching the game. (Giants/Patriots got good at the end). I caught a few games over the season (GF forced me) and both Brees and Manning make a pretty entertaining game.

Being from Indiana and graduating from Purdue... it's really hard to decide who to root for. Hopefully it's one of those good ones.

That's cuz he's barely halfway through his career. Without a doubt, when he retires he will be remembered as the greatest qb to ever ever ever play the game. Even if he loses this superbowl, he's gonna make it look goddamn pretty.

Whenever I heard announcers saying that the QB threw it low to avoid the defender, etc, I thought it was BS, but hearing Brees talk, they actually are that accurate... well not McNabb, but some of them

I agree, but I also really dont doubt that he will surpass all of them. I dont typically like to crown people before theyve acheived their goals, but this guy is a lock.

2010-02-05 01:11:30 PM
Very impressive. I'd be curious to see how some other QB's -- Manning for example -- would do on the same test. I'm not suggesting that they'd be better than Brees, but who knows. Brees is a great QB, but people get on shows like that based upon how good their publicist is. For all I know, most NFL QBs would do just as well.

Considering how many times Peyton Manning's name shows up here...I would say that whether he has surpassed those three yet or not is definitely up for debate.

2010-02-05 01:22:45 PM
Well this seems pretty scientific...

...when quarterback Josh McCown only hit 50% of this throws...

....aaannnnddd click. No sir. Unless you are trying to prove the theory "Josh McCown sucks" you may not use Josh McCown in your tests.

bigdogap: Whereas Peyton Manning is known for his lack of accuracy ...

Exactly. I would suspect that at least the top quarter of NFL quarterbacks would be able to match that. It's not taking anything away from Drew Brees, at all; that's absolutely amazing skill. But he's not alone.

/hopefully, this will be fun to watch...

People like to pretend that they're being oppressed by outsiders. It makes their victories more triumphant and their losses less disappointing.

After the game some player will say "nobody believed in us, nobody had any faith that we could do it, but we believed in ourselves blah blah blah". It's become a standard routine.

And most people rightly assume that the Colts will win. That's why they're 5 point favorites.

Maybe he should try it from 100 yards out, where the archers are more than likely shooting from.

A few observations:

Peyton Manning is not the greatest QB to have ever played. In top 10--yes. Maybe even in the top 5. But not the best (he still has time though).

The Saints are unbeatable if they play the way they played against Arizona. If they try to play it safe and don't fully open their throttle, they will probably lose.

The Colts running game is weak compared to the Saints running game. The Saints have Thomas, Bush, Bell and Hamilton. The Colts have Addai and Brown and two other guys that barely play.

The Colts may field the best receiver in Wayne. And Garcon and Collie are good, but green. Manning may get the ball to them, but the Saints have shown a game-changing ability to wrest the ball from inexperienced receivers and running backs. The Saints receiving corp is pretty stout with Colston, Henderson, Meachem and Moore.

The Colts win the TE match-up easily. Clark is the beast that Shockey can only dream of becoming.

The Saints O-line is the one of the best in football this year. And because Freeney won't be a factor, that only makes them better.

I think the betting line of Colts -5 is a bit off (should be -3). But the Colts possess the intangible of having played in the game before. In a close game, that probably wins it for them. But if the Saints' engine is running in top form, they will leave the Colts in the dust.

That was the absolute biggest load of BS I have ever seen. The statistics they claimed for archers missing are completely off.

MugzyBrown: Whenever I heard announcers saying that the QB threw it low to avoid the defender, etc, I thought it was BS, but hearing Brees talk, they actually are that accurate... well not McNabb, but some of them

Oh yeah. They aren't BS'ing. Well, I'm sure sometimes the QB just gets lucky, but as a former weekend QB (as in some guys get together for a fun game) even I would try throw the ball low or high depending on what the DB was doing.

However there is a reason I'm not in the NFL, and sometimes the ball just leaves even a NFL quarterback's hands wrong.
