the thin crust chicken bacon pizza is good.

m053486: From here on in, we're sticking with Papa John's and some local places, where at least the massive amounts of fat/grease are accompanied by actual flavor.

Really? I dunno but here in Seattle Papa John's is bad. At least as bad as the old Domino's. Honestly I would say it is worse.

I'm tempted to try the new Domino's but I dunno after reading this thread. I like Papa Murphy's or Safeway ready-to-bake. At least that way you can make sure the damn dough is cooked.

macfluke: tried the new and improved, its better than before, but... papa johns still kicks dominos in the N U T s...

In my neck of the woods, 12 Papa Johns stores closed overnight last week.

Pizza Hut snatched up all of the 'Pizza is my career' types immediately.

spaceninjax: We ordered them for lunch one day at work as well. Still tastes like crap. They did give us our money back when we called and complained so they got a point for good customer service.

Our crust was burned and really hard. Was like eating a cracker with ketchup on it.

If I want cheap rot gut pizza I'll just stick to Little Caesar's

There are still LC? I haven't seen any around here in years.

MuadDib: oldebayer: I tried Domino's once. I will never try their "new" version.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, I'm a fool.

I'm a complete pizza snob, but I gave the 're-invented' Domino's a try. It's actually quite good. It's not going to replace Tony Boom-Bozz as my favourite, but it earned a spot in the rotation.

I have to agree. 2 medium pies, six bucks each, was worth the order. Less grease, a bit more flavor, better than Pizza Hut (thankfully.)

However, they're not "pizza", any more than dumping Ragu and grated cheese on a friggin' English muffin is "pizza." The dough is "hollow" - not enough gluten, far too many conditioners, far too artificial. The sauce is still too sweet and "young." The toppings are still lowest-bidder "meat", and custom-made "cheese". Their idea of "improved flavor" is a sprinkling of garlic and corn meal on the crust itself, apparently after baking.

Is it better than it was before? Yes. Is it pizza? No.

I gave up eating Dominoes after my Sophomore year of college. It didn't matter that it was about a third of the price of the local joint and about three blocks closer. Even as a drunk I had standards.

I hear the new stuff still sucks. You can dress up crap but it's still crap.

Yay! A Fark pizza snob thread. I'd like to interject and say that the best pizza in the world is the I Love NY pizza on 4th Street, Troy NY!

Mugato: I haven't had Dominos in a while but Pizza Hut is horrible. Their dough is sweet like they buried it in sugar or something. ABC or Cici's is decent.

CiCi's....seriously. That stuff is like the pizza they served in my high school cafeteria. I'd rather eat fecal stained toilet paper than cici's pizza.

/not really

Yikes..it's nasty

It's not even the best pizza chain in Michitgan (Buddy's). It's not even the best pizza chain in the Ann Arbor - Ypsilanti Area (Cottage Inn, but better at the original location than the franchises).

Hah. That reminds me of an article I read in my (admittedly questionable in journalistic integrity) campus newspaper last week. There was a health article about the benefits of eating pomegranates, and the author took all of her information from pomegranates.org. Ugh.

Domino's is proud that they've managed to beat out Pizza Hut and Papa John's.

I took a class at my university's medical school (crosslisted with the engineering school). We had to read everybody else's final papers. One med student cited our professor and an AOL home page. And that AOL home page was pretty effing bad, factually speaking.

New Domino's tasted good enough to me, although I honestly don't remember what their old pizza tasted like.

I've never had pizza that was truly bad, but honestly I think Papa John's is the worst of the bunch.

Small pizza places are of course better, but of the chains, Dominos is actually one of my favorites.

Ugh. The only way I can eat Papa John's is downing the pizza in that scary garlic butter sauce thing.

My current local pizza place has kickass pizza, fresh ingredients, and charges $6 for a large carry out with one topping (to better compete with Little Ceasar's). I know it's not the only local place to do so around my area. Just keep an eye out for coupons/specials.

Ha. I had to drive by his damn law school for psycho conservative Christian/Catholic students, to better compete with the scary liberals taking over our country. Oh, and he wanted to build a 300 foot cross overlooking my heathen city at one point, but couldn't get a permit.

So if you're talking about Domino's, f--k yes I'm going to talk about that douchebag.

The Little Ceasar's founder I have no problem with. Not a fan about how he left the old Tiger Stadium, but he's done a decent amount of good for the city. And finally got us a damn Stanley Cup, which was pretty cool.

Tried the new version, it's a lot better than it was. It's earned it's spot in the pizza rotation of Stuffed Crust from Pizza Hut/Papa John's/the Local shop

I've always liked Shield's, but it is only available uncomfortably close to Detroit.

And Niki's, the best reason to consider actually entering Detroit

We are working late in the warehouse getting a large order of cameras ready for Target stores. Nice evening, bay doors are open. Kid from a new, local Domino's walks in with a stack of pies. This idiot Ron goes over and talks to the guy, then Ron is going off: "African pepperoni? AFRICAN PEPPERONI? WTF is African pepperoni?" Poor Domino's kid is standing there in dis-belief. Chuck the supervisor walks up to Ron and says: "HE SAID: half sausage, half pepperoni, you moron."

--- We tried the New Improved. I got a stomach ache, my wife felt ill and our dog got sick on the crust. Damn you, Domino's!

I live a mile from Little Caesar's. Their pizza can be bought with couch cushion change. And they have other things.

Buddy's has $4 off a 8 square coupon online, and you can go to a location comfortably far away from the scary city.

ebonada: When they changed Domino's pizza they made it even worse than before. Hard to believe, I know.

The new "marinara" sauce they're using on the pizza overpowered everything else on the pizza AND tasted absolutely horrible.

Immediately after eating the pizza both my father and I experienced heightened blood pressure and increased heart rates for about an hour to an hour and a half. I don't know WTF was in that pizza, but I'm never eating Domino's again.

You sound old. And sickly. Check yourself and your father into a hospice before the weekend.

2010-02-04 10:53:59 PM
I found Domino's pretty inedible before, but I tried the new recipe, and, well, it's at least decent now. I rank it on par with Pizza Hut and just below Papa John's, which means if they have the best special of the week, I'll get it, whereas before I wouldn't touch it. So that's an improvement I guess.

Of course, Mellow Mushroom is much better, and there's a local place that only makes 19" NY style pizzas that's incredible. But neither of those deliver.

2010-02-04 10:54:03 PM
Had the new stuff and it was horrible. The worst part was that it gave me terrible stomach cramps and then horrendous gas, I mean biological warfare grade. Never having that crap again.

DarthTrollington: I'd rather eat out Amy Whinehouse.
