penis enlargement and breast augmentation surgeries should also be tax deductible. while we're at it, let's get gastric bypass for the fatties tax deductible. well, hell. let's make ALL elective surgeries tax deductible. wonder why our budgets across the US are considerably farked up? because hours upon hours of litigation and resources are spent on a disproportionately small amount of people. if someone with "gender identity disorder" can get a write-off on their taxes can an alcoholic or drug addict do the same for rehab? you know, since they are all diseases. i'd hazard to guess no. but talk about a guy that wants a pair of tits and everyone's sympathetic.

/what a weak country we are becoming. can't tell anyone no. everyone always wins the prize.

You might be able to make a compelling argument for penis enhancement if your primary source of income was being a pornstar.

Breast augmentation has already been approved as an allowable deduction for "exotic dancers."

All I want to say is well done to the asshole in the article for having 3 kids before deciding they wanted to change their gender. Sure do whatever you want to yourself when you are young. Hell, decide you no longer want your arms for all I care (yup, I'm aware people actually do that stuff). But don't have kids and then do it. Because then they have to deal with 'mommy' becoming 'daddy'.

Have some damn sense and think of others for a change.

You do realize that gastric bypass surgery and drug / alcohol rehab actually are tax deductable, don't you? If you're going to try to make some outrageous Wharrblgharbl point, please pick examples that make sense.

Pretty idiotic to make this tax deductible.

I'm looking down the hole
You're looking up at me
You're cold and tired
that is easy to see
Lower the rope to you
a bucket and a light
Your membrane will be soft and smooth
and your heart will be mine.

It rubs the lotion on its skin
Or else it gets the hose again
It rubs the lotion on its skin
Or else it gets the hose again
Yes Precious, it gets the hose . . .

Wooooooo, oooh, oooh.
Wooooooo, oooh, oooh.

The look inside your eyes drives me from control
Evoking visions of my favorite casserole.
And if I eat your heart
I'll also bite your soul
And when I'm done with that
I'll use your skull as a bowl.

It rubs the lotion on its skin.
Or else it gets the hose again.
It rubs the lotion on its skin.
Or else it gets the hose again.
It gets the hose.
It puts the lotion in the basket.
It puts the lotion in the basket.
It puts the lotion in the basket.
Yes it does . . .
Put the lotion in the basket
Put the lotion in the basket . . .
Put the lotion in the basket . . .
. . . and it does.

Wooooooo, oooh, oooh.
Wooooooo, oooh, oooh.

The night is very cold
I'm feeling kind of weak.
I think I'll make myself a cap from your right buttock's cheek.
And then I will go walking with my little dog.
And then I'll bury you underneath the lawn.

It rubs the lotion on its skin.
Or else it gets the hose again.

The Ninj': rhodges26: So farking with nature is tax deductible. if i farked your mom is that tax deductible. That whole illness is B.S.

I don't know if I would go so far as to saying it is a "BS illness", I just don't understand why it should be tax deductible.

I'm all for people doing whatever they want to their body to be happy but I don't want to pay even fractions of a cent to cover the costs of a sex change.

This is no less of a cosmetic surgery than breast enhancement. The argument is: Woman has small breasts. This causes depression. New breasts are medically necessary.

And yet the Tax Court has approved breast augmentation as an ordinary and necessary business expense for strippers. Her new breasts were not medically necessary, but were to advance her profession.

lisarenee3505: You do realize that gastric bypass surgery and drug / alcohol rehab actually are tax deductable, don't you?

This is a great idea simply because it encourages people to go through with them. Rehab for an alcoholic is good on multiple levels; and it seems like gastric bypass saves the health system time & money in the long run, so I'm for that too.

Sex change operations? I can't really think of a real benefit to that.

There are three major centers for transsexual surgery - Johns Hopkins, University of Minnesota, and Columbus Medical Center.
I wouldn't be surprised if he had applied to and been rejected to all of them.

Look for severe childhood disturbances associated with violence. Our Billy wasn't born a criminal. He was made one through years of systematic abuse. Billy hates his own identity, you see, and he thinks that makes him a transsexual. But his pathology is a thousand times more savage and more terrifying.

Paying for hookers should be tax deductible by this reasoning.

It's not necessarily "a guy that wants a pair of tits." It's actually more frequently "a person that could not under any circumstances fit into society without this, and most likely considers this the only alternative to a messy suicide".

Cancer treatments are tax-deductible. Physical Therapy for people that have been disabled by strokes, same. While I can understand the opinion you have - only people that need the surgery can truly understand it, making it very difficult to understand - it's actually about the same importance to health in many cases.

I know a few transgendered people. One of them described what they felt as similar to a person born with feet on their arms instead of hands. Another one had limited funds, and chose to have hormones instead of heart medicine.

This isn't true of everyone. I also know some people that want to transition simply because they feel slightly more comfortable that way. However, in my experience the "if I don't do this, I will off myself" is more common than the other.

2010-02-03 04:42:22 PM
Comparing transgendered people to cancer patients is asinine on almost every level.

Nice, so they can write off nearly $6K in sex changes, and all unemployed people can write off $2,400.

Sounds fair to me.

Already is.

if someone with "gender identity disorder" can get a write-off on their taxes can an alcoholic or drug addict do the same for rehab?

Yes, in fact, they can.

If it's recognized as medically appropriate, it's tax deductible.
