The tasering at the end was the icing on the cake.

/in before the "what? i don't have to pay before i pump" crowd

Wow, that is a whole lot of stupid.

2010-02-03 12:54:48 AM
This is why they have debit card access at the pumps nowadays

2010-02-03 12:55:06 AM
It's not just that the pump won't take your card, it's that the damned thing sits there bleeping and asking stupid questions and taking it's time just because it has the cheapest processor on the market back when it was built.

It's not just that the pump is frustrating, but the clerk obviously doesn't give a shiat about it, either.

It's not just that he doesn't care, its that he never bothered to learn decipherable English.

It's not just that he can't talk and won't listen, but he is dumber than a doorknob besides.

It's not just that the clerk is a moron, but you are forced to negotiate with this moron because the owner put him there to keep you from bothering the owner.

It's hot just that the place is a ripoff with no discernible management and dumbass policies and poor maintenance, but now you have to go somewhere else because you don't carry around enough cash to buy a tank of gas at these prices.

Not that any of this bullshiat would piss me off, though. Nossir.

Wow...and people think I have a temper.

Why is his ass digitally blurred at the end? It doesn't look like it's hanging out. I would know; I was a teenage boy in the eighties with cable. I know what scrambled man ass looks like. All you had to do was turn your TV from channel 3 to channel 4.

/If you got your first iPod when you were 5 years old, ignore this.

I can't think of a time where a pump has pissed me off enough to do what he did, but get me behind the

"gimme a pack a Marboros.... no, no... not that kind... marboro lights.... what? You're out of marboro lights? Ok, then gimme a pack of Winstons... no, not that kind... the hard pack.... how much is a carton of those? That much? Ok, never mind. Just give me two packs, one filtered, one non-filtered. The cigarette cabinet is locked? No problem... I'll wait while you get the key from the back room. And what do you have in the way of new scratch off tickets? Do you have any where you play poker on them? No? How about some of those crossword puzzles tickets. Wait, never mind, I can never figure out how to play that one"

person and I'm ready to drive my car through the plate glass window as well.

It must suck having to pump your own gas.

I love the doughy security guard who has his taser drawn on the guy for what looks like minutes before figuring out how to work the thing.

Dude did this because he was told to pay first before pumping? I'm guessing he was a bit unstable. But he sure taught those gas station people a lesson!

Were this nutjob's pants hanging down below his ass? I assume that's what the blur was for. Probably safe to also assume this was some kind of mid-life crisis or a mental disorder rearing its ugly head. Even stupid people wouldn't go that far.

NeedleGuy: /in before the "what? i don't have to pay before i pump" crowd

Every gas station that I'm familiar with in my own town charges before the gas is pumped... except one. They have occasional drive-offs, which the owner then makes up for by taking the money from the pumper's paycheck. I guess it doesn't affect him, but it's a sloppy way to handle things and it's shi--y to pull on his employees.

We've a few "pay before you pump" stations in Maine, but I won't purchase anything from them.

I give prefer businesses that don't treat me like a criminal.

Most of the local gas stations are "pump before you pay" any way.

I've only seen a pay first pump a couple of times - ever. And before you ask there are over a million people in the city and surrounding area where I live.

In addition to that, the state of Oregon also forces us to be treated as functional retards. It's illegal for us to even pump our own gas, as such activity is deemed far too hazardous.

/Sort of a tangent, but it still pisses me off.

This, this, THIS!

What's even worse at some stations around here, they have eight/ten gas pumps with autos waiting and only ONE attendant there to do the job.

Years ago, I was working at a Casey's - during the $4.50 a gallon era. A customer casually informed one of my co-workers that the next time he saw someone turning the gas prices up, he was likely to be waiting across the street with a rifle.

Because...ya know...that'll fix them greedy part time gas station clerks.

pinktaco4lunch: This is why they have debit card access at the pumps nowadays

In my area, some of the gas stations put a $100 hold on your checking account, regardless of the amount of fuel purchased. The hold can last for days if made just before a weekend.

Unacceptable

My wife manages a bank and refuses to use a debit card for fuel.

I haven't seen a full service gas station since the late 90's. I have seen 1 pay before you pump gas station in all of Wisconsin. Not sure How I feel about those. When I gas up, i really like filling up the tank all the way.

Hey car manufacturers, instead of putting a small gauge in cars, you really should have some that display how many gallons are left, or something.

Using a debit card over a credit card is fail anyway. Can't issue a stop payment on something when it's instantly withdrawn from your account.

At least with a credit card you can fark with asshats who try shenanigans.

It's really not that hard. If I pay by debit or credit card, I can fill my car up right at the pump. If I'm paying by cash, I give the clerk more cash than is required to pump the gas and then go inside for change.

It's been a good ten years since I've seen a pump first station anywhere on the West Coast, with the exception of Oregon where they pump your gas for you.

I think of Pre Pay as a good indication of when you should hit the power door lock button on your car and hide anything of value in your car.

Where I'm from, you only lock your car if you are at the Mall, or are going to be away from it for a long time. You would just leave it unlocked at the grocery store, the donut shop, liquor store etc. You don't pay first for gas. You gas up, leave your iPhone on the seat with the window down, and go in and pay.

If you are in an area with Pre Pay gas pumps, you leave your car locked when you aren't in it, aren't looking at it, or when you blink.

We don't have that many drive offs, either, mainly because with cameras we have your plate if you ain't from around here, and if you are a local driving off, heaven help you because everyone knows where you live and the police will know exactly where to find you.

It's kind of like Mayberry, 'cept with drug dealing cops and cockfighting.

I love going to Oregon to gas up, I get to exploit the system for my own amusement and convenience. The fastest way to get service is to hop out of your car and start the process, an attendant will come flying over, take over and start pumping the gas, then they watch you, and as soon as the gas is done pumping they are there putting your gas cap back on and shooing you on your way.

Being subjected to random strip searches and invasive security sweep at the airport is being treated like a criminal. Paying for gas doesn't count, its normal to pay for groceries before you load them into your car right? How is gas different?
