Never again!

Unless you mean that expensive rum is significantly cheaper than expensive Scotch.

Homebrew is actually just as expensive, if not more expensive than buying it, I've found.

Life's too short to drink cheap beer. I'd rather have one Pliny the Elder than a 12-pack of Bud Light.

I've been buying Governor General (think that's the name). It's like a cheap man's Captain Morgan's.

And you don't have to tip anyone but yourself, get your drinks when you want them, don't have to drive drunk or call a cab, and don't have to put up with any drunken assholes but yourself.

I always buy mid range stuff. the cheap stuff always made me sick and the expensive stuff is just...well too expensive.
also, buying off brands of liquor can be the best choice ever made as they often not only taste better, but are cheaper.

Yuengling lager is about $19 a case and tastes just fine. Every now and then you get a skunky bottle, but, for the most part, it's some of the best lager/beer/pilsner you can get for under a buck a bottle.

I just buy those $18 canned mixes and get my 4.5 gallons or so and then just dump them into empty soda 2 liter bottles.

course once you open one ya gotta finish it off or it goes flat, but ive never had a problem with that.

im sure theres a number of brew-snobs on fark who would be horrified by this, but hey, its cheat.

hard liquor is a problem though. :(

Switched from Sam Adams on tap to Molson. Now have PBR.

/of course, part of that was realizing that many of our friends were drinking a LOT of beer from our kegorator and not really paying a fair share.

Guilty as charged.

2010-02-02 03:09:52 PM
Yeah, the day I discovered I could just have a few friends over (or not) and drink without bar-level prices and no tipping I started saving some serious dough. Sure, there's no stupid drunk college kids wandering around my house, but on the upside, there's no stupid drunk college kids.

24-packs of PBR at Smart & Final for $12. Thank you.

Yup, very true. We stay home, watch TV and DVDs, and drink cheap wine.

From the article: "Vodka remained Americans' favorite liquor, accounting for almost a third of all spirits sold and sales of $4.56 billion."

Huh. I had no idea. I prefer gin for the herbal taste when I drink hard liquor, but I won't turn my nose up at vodka.

This article is from Cleveland where the national drink is whole milk and Everclear. How much more down market can you get than that?
