lanciepants: A liquid injection of federal funds into his district will more likely then not, remedy any of his ills.

If that was true, he'd be the healthiest man alive.

Nemo's Brother: Aarontology: Nemo's Brother: They don't view the rest of us as humans. I'm tired of giving them the same courtesy. I doubt you tear up everytime you read about a fellon getting killed in prison. I'm not going to mourn everytime someone in the world gets sick, but I certainly won't for the sub-human slime in DC who have done nothing but screw us over.

It only took you two posts to make yourself out to be a hypocrite. I don't shed tears for felons, nor do I rejoice. And let's not pretend that you care beyond party affiliation. If it was one of your conservative heroes, you'd be doing the same thing I am.

I do have to say though, you've got several posts without doing your "preemptive race card" routine. I congratulate you for that.

I would trust the average person on the street more than any elected official in DC. They are garbage. What more do you want?

Something besides hyperbole, perhaps.

Lt. Cheese Weasel: I hope the old bastard dies in a fiery crash on the way to the hospital between his ambulance and a gasoline tanker truck.

I'd say "stay classy", but let's face it. How can you "stay" with something you've never had?

Tenebreux: The Muthaship: Namahs: Uh... who?

I say for it to be a news flash it has to concern someone the public actually knows.

Recently high profile, loooong term U.S. Congressman.

Sometimes it's best to keep your mouth shut and let people wonder whether you are a fool or not.

Not everyone's American around here, man. Some of us really don't know who the guy is.

You may not be American, but chances are you have access to Google. I'm pretty sure Google isn't just an American company doing business solely within the US border.

And for a primarily American site, the news that our longest serving Congressman has been taken to intensive care IS seen as news.

Tenebreux: Not everyone's American around here, man. Some of us really don't know who the guy is.

But, everyone can clicky the linky and find out, then decide whether the newsflash tag is justified. Or, everybody can just rush to the thread to see who can be the Weeners "Who?"

The_Six_Fingered_Man: in whatever hand picked successor the previous person selected?

Term limits only serve to put more power in the hands of the unelected and would do little to stem the corruption, graft and general malaise of the Federal government. See California for a great example of this.

... Also see Michigan. Which, Like California, has spent recent years mired in seemingly interminable budget crisis which paralyze the state government for weeks or months. Hmmm...

ramen_for_all: gall bladder surgery?? I had mine out years ago. Lickity split. I didn't know there could be potentially fatal complications from that.

I went in for the laparoscopy about 10 years ago. Supposed to be easy-cheesy-peasy. Lickity splickity.

Turns out I was the "1 in 20" patient who had to sliced open with a nice, gently curving 16" incision across my abdomen. In other words, major goddamn surgery. So I woke up in the worst farking agony I've ever experienced. But the asshat doctors didn't tell me what had happened. And when my wife came to visit me later, she just assumed that I already knew.

So for about 13 hours after I woke up, I thought I was being the biggest wuss in the history of medicine. Because I thought all I had under those bandages were a couple of
I laid there for a week, gritting my farking teeth and pushing the morphine-drip button like a demented lab rat. And now I have a gawd-awful scar to show for it. And no gall bladder.

BigTuna: Remember kids, being a pro-life, anti-gun-control combat veteran is only respectable when you align with the right political party. Otherwise, you are responsible for creating the culture of corruption in D.C.

Don't know which party is worse. They both suck. I'm niether.

However, I do have personal experience with the work of Rep. Murtha, using his influence to pass over superior USA made military technology, in favor of foreign made, inferior products. Those foreigners happen to employ Murtha's brother as a lobbyist.

Whatever heroics he's accomplished in battle, it's undone by the lives he's cost by his "accomplishments" in DC.

/How can you tell a congressman is a dirtbag? He's (or she) is a member of congress

now if we could just encourage Rangel to have a heart attack/stroke then we might just get the economy back on track.

If he retires, he begins to collect a HUGE retirement package. If he dies, he only get a plot. Think of the budget for once John.

Pelosi should also be a canidate for intensive care. The other day, she spoke of parachuting in with a healthcare bill and my first thought was "just let me pack her chute" Then I realized how that could be taken, and although I would be willing to take one for the team, I am NOT willing to take that one!!!

it's funny though, she never mentioned riding her broom in...

Brick-House: If he retires, he begins to collect a HUGE retirement package.

Well, HUGE is relative, but by my estimate the most he could possibly qualify for would be $139,000. Yeah, that's a lot, but he's paid a percentage into the civil service program, and won't be collecting social security in parallel.

I for one want our elected officials to be paid reasonably well, because otherwise only rich people can afford to be elected officials.

2010-02-02 04:52:00 PM
y'know...there are a LOT of old guys heading up various/sundry key positions in Congress. Kennedy went down with a brain tumor. Murtha apparently has a bum ticker. Kind of makes you wonder who's next to keel over.

I'd prefer to see Murtha and the rest of his corrupt asshat buddies kicked out of office in an election...but i'll take a defacto win due to health reasons. eventually we WILL see those old farts kicked out of office. one heart attack at a time, if that's the way they want to play it.

Nemo's Brother: Aarontology: CapitolG: can we just accept that the two in question are asshats and not make such huge sweeping statements?

Just saying...... you cannot be much better if you spend your time putting all your enemies in a row the same way they are doing.

Dammit. You're right. I retract my statements judging all Republicans by those two statements.

Nemo's Brother: Yet liberals such as Aaraontology will defend him because he plays for this team.

Not a Democrat, my friend. Nor was I defending him. Murtha is corrupt and should get out of DC. But rejoicing at his pain and suffering is an incredibly vile thing to do. And before you go all "Rush thread" on me, look through it. You'll find I was calling out lefty asshats for the same thing.

They don't view the rest of us as humans. I'm tired of giving them the same courtesy. I doubt you tear up everytime you read about a fellon getting killed in prison.
