Can't it be both?

2010-02-02 08:46:28 AM
I think a lot of teabaggers know exactly why they are waving that flag, especially since there is an "uppity negro" in the White House.

/of course, idiocy and bigotry walk hand-in-hand

2010-02-02 08:48:41 AM
People will think they are rebels?

2010-02-02 08:51:26 AM
Well, we will know they are assholes, but how much of one they are depends on how much they understand what they are doing.

2010-02-02 08:52:59 AM
I think most of them are just racist. I happen to own a confederate flag and all my idiot friends call me a racist, but I just support the states decisions to be inclined to revolt should the federal government make decisions that harm their economies ect.

I'm sure the majority of you understand that it wasn't about freeing slaves until 1863, right?

I don't want to look over at Cletus' double-wide and see him pinching off a load of his terlet!

A confederate flag is so mavericky. It's proof that you're a true patriot and oppose socialism, sekret muslins, and fancy salad greens.

These guys are quite familiar with the economic underpinnings associated with the Confederate flag...

Real Americans own more than one flag.

I desire to live in a world in which the social understanding is that embracing the Confederate Battle Flag is an embrace of the cause of treason in defense of slavery.

You can desire that all you want. It won't necessarily make it true.

make no mistake; it's straight-up racist. remember, republicans: you lie down with dogs, you're going to get up with fleas. racist fleas.

They're stupid, ok?

The media dances around this fact every time there's a story about them, but it's true. The teabaggers are stupid.

They're angry, scared, and confused. Some are illiterate, some are racist, and none of them seem to have a firm grip on their own and anyone else's politics. They're outraged, but they're not sure why, and they have no idea what they want. They scream and holler about liberals taking their money as they line up to buy Palin's book, faithfully tune in to Rush Limbaugh, and invest in gold. They are ignorant, unintelligent people.

There, I said it.

Whatever it meant in 1862, it sure as hell doesn't mean today. Pardon me for godwinning hear, but until the the early 20th century, swastikas meant something totally different, but I'm sure as hell not putting one up in my living room now.

Is a bear Catholic? Does the Pope shiat in the woods?

Wendy's Chili nailed it. Teabaggers are made up of the lowest common denominator of right-wing voters who cannot in any reasonable way articulate WHY they're right-wing voters other than "terrorists," "Muslims," and whatever Rush and Hannity and Beck and their pastor tell them they believe.

Well, it makes sense. People who flew the Confederate flag after the war were upset that all those Republicans carpetbaggers were telling them how to live their lives.

I guess it's time to burn down Georgia again, though.

Here we go again.

Slavery was the 800 lb gorilla of 19th century politics. Every issue you're thinking of right now- states rights, western expansion, tariffs, etc.- all tie back into slavery. You simply cannot talk about the causes of the Civil War without getting into the issue. You just can't.

Yes, yes, yes, but it was the legs that were legendary. Her gams had their own insurance policy with Lloyd's of London.

Dear Southerners,

Please let this one go. You lost, 145 years ago Lee signed the surrender to keep Grant and Sherman for pissing on the already dead and defiled corpse of your armies. Quit fantasizing about what might have happened if Longstreet had his way or Pickett's charge broke all the way through or Hood had turned the corner on Chamberlain. It's over, the Bonnie Blue Flag is now a reminder of racism, treason, failure, loss, and simmering resentment.

Let it go.

-The rest of the world.

I'd say that's irrelevant to the people who display it. They just know it pisses people off and that's the extent of their thought process.

I'm going to speak as a person born in the South. FOR THE LAST TIME THE FARKING CONFEDERATE FLAG IS A SYMBOL OF HATE, PREJUDICE AND OPPRESSION. If you are waving the flag of a failed state and a completely discredited political ideology you are not "honoring your heritage" you are being a racist asshole.

Want to honor your heritage? Donate money to a museum, go clean up a battlefield, or read a farking book about the Civil War. Keep that stupid rag in the past where it belongs.

Assholes.

1.It actually is the Confederate naval jack. 2. Pennsylvania was the only state that really cared about freeing the slaves. 3. Taxes. 4. States rights. 5. If you are intelligent enough to process though there are in fact a lot of similar issues.

How many black teabaggers have you seen?

Think about that.
