Serious question when it comes to journalism; when is it appropriate to mention their employer in the headline and in the article instead of saying "Man/Woman" or their actual name? I understand the headline for Fark, but I mean news websites in general such as the link to the story.

I can understand for professions that are considered authority or respected such as police officers, senators, and doctors, though I don't consider a TSA employee to fall in that category.

I can also agree with using it when the person commits a crime at their place of work. The headline "KFC Employee arrested selling drugs through the drive through" makes sense. However, you never see "KFC Employee arrested for murder of family".

Or is it only when the employer is involved in a current hot button issue making an excellent trolling headline that will surely catch some eye and comments, as this one did?

Nowadays statutes of limitations on child sex charges generally don't expire until the victim has been an adult for a certain number of years. Minors may be intimidated or ashamed to report these crimes, so they're given a few years of adulthood to come to that decision.

If a single mother is an erotic dancer so she can feed her kids and she gets raped I think it is wholly inappropriate to mention her line of work. It's totally inappropriate sensationalism and demeaning as to place blame on her. I'd buy your point. Not so much for a public servant entrusted with our so called security. We have a right to be outraged about hiring practices or lack of sufficient background checks. Strikes me as wholly appropriate.
The media is supposed to be the defacto fourth branch of government and keep us informed when things don't smell right.
