110 lbs of food a month...holy crap...that's a lot to clean up!

2010-01-30 11:24:03 PM
Cool dog. I would love for him to come over here and teach my cats some manners.

Here's an example of where my mind is right now.

On first glance I thought the last picture in the article was of his penis hanging between his legs.

2010-01-31 12:06:05 AM
I don't wanna clean up his poop

2010-01-31 12:09:25 AM
He must crap like a race horse... and ever notice how when a a dog gets excited, he can kinda jump all over you and lose control? Yeah, I don't want to be around when this one does that... never-mind being humped by a 245lb dog.

2010-01-31 12:12:55 AM
Geez that dog is about 10x the weight of my dog.

2010-01-31 12:15:39 AM
I'd have appreciated some pictures that DIDN'T distort the size of the dog, to make it appear larger than it actually is.

But I guess I'd appreciate a real news source, as well.

So you have undistorted pics? Or are you just assuming the pics distort the don't size? E.g., do you have any factual evidence the pics are distorted, or are you just a punk, making assumptions?

He has a Facebook page ("Giant George") with some additional photos with more normal perspective. I'm a little unclear on where they are measuring the shoulder measurement; the one photo with a yardstick looks like it's measuring up on his neck. Regardless, he is ginormous.

Relax, Frances.

Take a look at the first photo. Do you see how small the guy's head looks (compare with his knees)?

beautiful dog! i would love a big dog, but i don't know how my husband would feel about one that size. I mean if i was going to get one that big i might as well get a horse. At least, that's what my argument is going to be.

Yup. Yellow journalism photographer. Not that that's a bad thing. The Mail is one of the premier yellow rags, right up there with Fox News. Dude was just doing his job to the best of his abilities.

If that dog starts to hump your leg, just let it go man, cause it's gone.

BackAssward : So you have undistorted pics? Or are you just assuming the pics distort the don't size?

Anyone that has experience with using a SLR can tell you that the perspective in the first picture is very distorted.

Hell, don't even look at the dog, look at the man. Look at the apparent size of his lower body compared to his upper body.

That's either a distorted photo or Gheorghe Muresan retired to Tuscon and got himself a big ol' dog.

2010-01-31 02:09:59 AM
One of these days I'd like the visit this mythical city of Tuscon, Arizona. It seems all the cool stuff happens there. I guess I'll have to be content with good ol' Tucson.

Oh no! the picture distorts the prespective! My whole night is ruined. I must post about my disgust with this inferior news source

Holy farking crap. That dog is farking HUGE.

consciousNOT: Be careful walking in his backyard.

That's the beauty of it. It would be incredibly hard not to miss his business.

A buddy of mine has an English Mastiff named Tobias. One time I went to visit and had just come through the gate. Toby came galloping around the corner of the house and clipped me pretty solid. I remember the sensation of flying and seeing my legs silhouetted against the sky, and I'm a pretty big guy.

They have farked with the first photo so much the dog looks like it's in a painting.

Great Danes are awesome dogs, but their life spans are pretty short compared to other dogs, which is one of main the reasons I don't want to get one. That, along with the dinosaur-sized poop.

OK, seriously, is there anyone on earth stupid enough to not know a wide-angle shot when they see one? This is not an attempt at deception, it just makes for a funny picture to go with a fluff-piece story. The rest of the pics are taken with a regular lens, so what's with all the butthurt over a little creative license taken with one photo, that could arguably be called a photo-illustration? God forbid a journalist ever use a wide-angle lens for a picture that will be published in the media.

Hick: Cool dog. I would love for him to come over here and teach my cats some manners.

It tends not to work that way. My niece and her husband have the sweetest Great Dane. He is bullied by their cats. He also wants to do all the cat things, like climb up on things, sit on people's laps, and try to fit into things that are way too small for him.
