Sounds more like a "We shouldn't have done it, because China and Russia WANTED us to do it!" type of angle, if nothing else. Then again, there needs to be a whole lot more proof that this even close to reality.

Ok, I'm going to assume you haven't seen it. There is an episode of South Park that is about the night Obama was elected, and how secretly, he and McCain were both part of an international thieves club that staged the entire election as part of a plot to steal the hope diamond. The phrase "always working the angles" comes up as a part of it. It's one of the best episodes they've done, imo, and I highly recommend it. It should be up on the comedy central site as "About last night..." or something like that.

It was a joke.

To make it a credible threat, the Russians would have to prove to me that most of their missiles wouldn't just explode on launch and the rest spiral out of control somewhere over Norway...

Fark literalists... we're not talking actual nukes here.

The theory was that Putin would get China involved. Their economic influence on the US is much greater at this point. Of course, China has its own interests, and they aren't in playing games with Pooty-poot. If the American credit bubble goes away, they've misinvested billions in plastic shiat factories, and don't have the domestic demand for it. Thus, massive unemployment, which is the biggest concern for the Chinese govt.

Funny how "Reason" can post a completely uninformative and even misleading blog entry. Those guys need an editor.

Mmkay. But what does China want from Russia? (Or, what does Putin THINK China wants from Russia?)

Yeah, a little misunderstanding there. I have seen it a few times.

There was a part where Michelle Obama says something about not wanting to be with an international diamond thief or something.

That's why I said "diamond thief?"

Because I was thinking "Suave, Globetrotting diamond Thief, Obama"

See, I was thinking of going with "art thief", but I don't think the hope diamond would count, so I just went with fewer adjectives.

Siberia. China really wants the natural resources up there. It's like Manchuria, only colder. Of course Russia isn't exactly looking to part ways with Siberia.
