2003-04-11 09:57:30 PM
Comical Ali = hitage
2003-04-11 09:57:35 PM
This is a lie by the infidels
2003-04-11 09:59:10 PM
Geez, did anyone read the article? It's coming back up in 24 hours, they're just moving it to a dedicated server.
2003-04-11 09:59:28 PM
What a sweet, sweet metaphor of his life.

*sniff* gone but not forgotten, M.S.S.
2003-04-11 10:01:25 PM
Damn, it wasn't even around long enough to make it into Google's cache.
2003-04-11 10:02:16 PM
My penis gets so many hits, I should move it to a dedicated server.

2003-04-11 10:03:05 PM
yep morons are at it again. the site is still there. go here
2003-04-11 10:10:24 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if that guy become more popular than Saddam Himself.
2003-04-11 10:11:24 PM
That paper messed up.

Chemical Ali is not the Information Minister.

2003-04-11 10:11:46 PM
It'S quite ironic that M.S.S. calle dthe Americans infidels when Irak was/is supposed to be a secular state.
2003-04-11 10:11:53 PM
Looks like Fark has some serious competition. They're no longer the only popular humor site with a bad server.
2003-04-11 10:12:55 PM
When they make the movie about this, I think they should get Dustin Hoffman to play the Information Minister. There's an eerie resemblance that plays right into his "Wag The Dog" accusations.

This is Chemical Ali, the butcher: [image from too old to be available]

This is the information minister, the liar: [image from too old to be available]

Can't they tell the difference?
2003-04-11 10:16:06 PM
Comedy gold:

"I can say, and I am responsible for what I am saying, that they have started to commit suicide under the walls of Baghdad. We will encourage them to commit more suicides quickly."
2003-04-11 10:16:21 PM

Comical Ali.

Now I get it.

*orders a decaf*
2003-04-11 10:19:55 PM
The site is already back up.
2003-04-11 10:19:57 PM
Why are you repeating al-jazeera's lies? There is nothing wrong with our server. Allah will roast you on a stick with one of those shiny red apples in your mouth. Not the amerivcan apple, we don't like those. A japanese apple would be okay. They are not part of this zionist conspiracy.
/ infidel rant

from a new angle:

Solzhenisin I was going to tongue whip you for that, but I guess it only took you 5 minutes to figure that out on your own. Everyone has their days.

Does hot chocolate have any drugs in it? No caffeiene right? I like hot chocolate.
2003-04-11 10:26:55 PM
"This is the information minister, the liar"

Hmmm... maybe Comical Ali doesn't know that he is wrong? I mean he gets his news from other people.
2003-04-11 10:28:50 PM
My INITIAL assessement, is that they will all die...
2003-04-11 10:30:05 PM
I'd say more but I'm TOO FAR FROM REALITY!
2003-04-11 10:32:07 PM
Don't play the martyr, Liam.
2003-04-11 10:38:44 PM
Thanks for making complete sense Nanookanano.

2003-04-11 10:41:30 PM
Oh so are we going to have consensus on what his nickname is?

Baghdad Bob
Comical Ali

Comical Ali is the one I like.

Baghdad Bob doesn't make any sense to me, why not Baghdad John or Baghdad Tom, why Bob?
2003-04-11 10:44:32 PM

"I am not Chemical Ali. I am Bagdad Bob. I am the information minister. And this is the ONLY truths you will ever hear me tell."

2003-04-11 10:46:28 PM
Nope, anaphora
2003-04-11 10:48:21 PM
The last guy that got a cool nickname from the gulf war was the "scud stud", Arthur Kent. Now he works for the History Channel. Maybe something similar is in "Baghdad Bob"'s future. Or, at least I HOPE.

My favorite is "God will roast their stomachs in hell at the hands of Iraqis."
2003-04-11 10:49:28 PM
my cult hero... here's dave's top 10 about our guy...

letterman's Top Ten Things Iraq's Information Minister Has To Say About The War

10. "We're pulling down the statues of Saddam to have them cleaned"
9. "Don't believe that stuff you see on CNN...or NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox or MSNBC"
8. "If you ask me who the winner is, it depends on what your definition of 'is' is"
7. "Iraqi television is off the air because we didn't want you to have to sit through 'Becker'"
6. "Do you know of any job openings for a lying weasel?"
5. "Wolf Blitzer and I are engaged"
4. "Iraqis are in the streets celebrating Cher's 40 fabulous years in show business"
3. "Incoming!"
2. "Saddam's not dead -- he's just out with a case of the shingles"
1. "War? What war?"
2003-04-11 10:50:09 PM
Horribly executed anaphora, not deserving of the title, probably wasn't intended.
2003-04-11 10:54:09 PM
anaphora is anaphora is anaphora though.

it's definitely not alliteration.
2003-04-11 10:55:52 PM
"We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills" Winston Churchill, 1944
2003-04-11 10:57:34 PM
thats repetition, anaphora only applies to sentences not phrases.
2003-04-11 11:02:28 PM

Really? I looked "anaphora" up in my literature book (cause I didn't know WTF you guys were talking about), and that is the example given...
2003-04-11 11:03:09 PM
today is opposite day, I see
2003-04-11 11:35:02 PM
Oh well in that case...

M.C.PeePants I completely agree with you.
2003-04-11 11:35:55 PM
His name ought to be "Misinfo Mo."
2003-04-12 12:11:31 AM
Do I fail to speak sensibly, or do you lack the wit and/or the will to understand me, Liam?
2003-04-12 12:13:20 AM
Yes, no idea what you meant to communicate.

"Don't play the martyr, Liam."

Now don't play the violin, Liam... that would make sense, now don't play with your nuts, liam, that'd make sense, but you... none.

Is English your second language?

"To play the martyr"
"To play at being the martyr"
"To act as if one is a martyr"
"To pretend one is being martyred"
2003-04-12 12:29:18 AM
Never mind. Trying to communicate with you tells me only two things:

Canadian college textbooks are just as full of warped and biased pseudo-facts as US texts, but the US has titles like Lies My Teacher Told Me to help us clear our minds of them, while you do not.

Merely memorizing facts does not make you wise.
2003-04-12 01:11:33 AM
Canadian schools strike LOW on fact memorizing. Japan however is the opposite, with USA in the middle.

Seeing as wise and knowledge arn't the same thing I agree memorizing facts does indeed not make you wise.

"Canadian college textbooks "

Actually 3/4 of my textbooks are printed and made in the USA, just checked it now.

""Is English your second language?

"To play the martyr""

WTF did you mean though? I'm a relegious nut whos going to kill himself to make a point? What did you mean. Cause if that is what you meant... I don't see where you got that.

"Mola Ram, prepare to meet Chemical Ali, in hell!"
2003-04-12 02:07:33 PM
"It has been rumored that we have fired scud missiles into Kuwait. I am here now to tell you, we do not have any scud missiles and I don't know why they were fired into Kuwait."
2003-04-12 09:34:49 PM
Ive been using Baghdad Bob, But the Misinfo Mo is better.

Props Yotta
