It's funny how the simplest solutions lay undiscovered and then, one day, eureka. How many complex formulas for drugs have been created in the interest of stroke victims? And if this turns out to be something, it was in the kitchen all along.

Not that it will do me any good. I'm an alcoholic. I can't make the conscious decision to consume alcohol. I might die if I do. But I can drink the coffee. Lordy lordy, can I drink the coffee.....

now, if they could find a way to add tobacco into that mixture, then I'd be set.

FLASHBACK TO: A THEATER full of sobbing people.

PETER (clapping his hands): I got it, that's the guy from Big.

A beat.

PETER (cont.): Tom Hanks! Oh, funny guy, Tom Hanks! Everything he says is a stitch!

TOM HANKS (on the movie screen): I have AIDS.

More importantly, hot beef injections cure boredom.

My heritage is German, wienerschnitzel cures boredom as well.

"However, they ruefully note that having a cup of Irish coffee every day to prevent stroke damage will not work."

SuperCool they will land were they are scheduled to and call a doctor to declare the body dead. That would be my suggestion.

We should credit Drew Carey for this idea. Buzz Beer anyone?

I just have one question.

can I get these injections with out having a stroke?
2003-04-12 01:07:49 AM
It seems to me the demographic most at risk for strokes would be senior citizens.

The article also states that simply "a cup" of Irish coffee won't do the trick.

Which means this will probably lead to a vast army of hyper, drunk old people. Lock up your Geritol supplies and for the love of Matlock, DON'T LOOK THEM IN THE EYES!!

The experimental drug, called caffeinol, has the potency of two cups of strong coffee and a small shot of alcohol.

They were injecting this into a mouse? Holy fark. i'm surprised the little thing didn't just go crazy and kill itself.

You'd be surprised, Mabman....folks with high blood pressure are at risk for stroke, and even something as seemingly benign as a bruise can cause on. (For example, a co-worker of mine bumped into a coffee table, ended up with a huge, ugly bruise on his shin. Died in his sleep of a stroke a few days later - blood clot from the bruise broke loose and travelled to his brain.)

Personally, I've had two small strokes, and I just recently turned 40. I've got anti-phospholipid antibody syndrome, which causes blood clots. But, on the bright side, Irish Coffee is one of my favorite tipples! I'm sure they feel just as good intravenously....
