I am willing to bet this was more of a "fark you asshole" type of crime. Like the thief worked for the construction co and feels like he got f'ed over by the boss. Bossman prolly loved him his collection of pin up calendars. How you like'em now?

Then again, maybe he was after something that was on the computer.
It's not like they will be missing anything if he makes copies of plans or looks for the company's secret bids for projects they're in competition with the robber('s company).

Or he wanted blackmail material and was looking for the real numbers that include all the illegally employed people and side-jobs that aren't in the official books - it's a construction company, after all.
