What was Chuchill and FDR's military experience? All they did was end Naziism. Ronnie's?? All he did was end the cold war. Lincoln's? All he did was end states rights and set our government up to grow into socialism..ERRRRRR, free tha slaves.

Churchill was in the British army and was also a war correspondent, even was involved in hand-to-hand combat with the Dervishes.

Lincoln was in the military and fought in the Blackhawk War.

Ronnie was in training videos (weak, but it is a link).

/Not that anyone remembers this one post

Chipaku: "those people deserved what they got. it's not like they got arrested and beat down or anything. their rights were not violated." Really? Then why was the NYPD forming a secret list of dissidents (was all over the news yesterday after they dropped it)? That IS a violation of the right to free speech and free association.
"and to go to a post office asking for shiatloads of stamps and specifically mentioning "no American flags" is kinda suspicious especially after we have had problems with anthrax being mailed around." Why is this "suspicious"??? maybe they just don't like the flag stamps. If the USPS came out with Lawn Gnome stamps and you didn't like Gnomes, wouldn't you ask for other stamps? Either that or perhaps they wanted those "toy car" stamps? This doesn't mark you as a TERRORIST, just not a fan of flag stamps.

Hubie,

Who do you think owned a lot of Disney stock?

If folks were truly Un-patriotic they wouldn't be so wrong about the action taken. They understand the danger that awaits us for doing nothing. They understand that the terriosts are not about diplomacy. When will those who are so against this war ask themselves if they are not the ones with the incorrect outlook of the future? All we heard was the Iraqi people did not want liberation. Now look at the TV. The left can't even acknowledge this as being wrong. This is why there is disdain for those on the left from those on the right.

How about offering equal opportunity to go along with equal rights.

How about getting an education? How about living within your means, and not expecting every person in the country to be able to afford four kids, a car, and a cable TV subscription?

Tadlette:

my only claim is that your original statment about the dixie chicks album sales was an unfounded lie to advance your point.

defend your original statement that the Dixie Chicks sales are the highest that they have been since their album was released, or admit you lied to make a point. if you cant do either of those just drop it. i'll get the point.

I think the church defined tithing 10%.

The church might have, Jesus never did though. He said sell everything you own, give the proceeds to the church or the poor, and follow the church. In the literal sense he advocated the church owning property collectively and people owning little to none. Perhaps one of the first communists ;)

Jesus saw some being rich while others were poor as almost a sin. Love of money is a sin. Selfishness is a sin. Rich men will find it very difficult to get into heaven. And so it goes ...

Clinton's military record while commander in chief has 3 great successes!

Bombing an aspirin factory.
Bombing a baby formula factory.
Somalia - GREAT JOB!

Also, let's not forget Clinton's do-nothing attitude regarding the USS Cole, because it was an election year and he wouldn't want his piss poor decision making to injure his boy Al's run for the presidency.

I agree that the problem with Welfare exists on both sides. And the problem with both sides is Greed.

Greed is probably the cause for 90% of the problems. (No, I cant back that number up, it's just that you can usually link bad things to greed)

yeah, whatever. Remember something my friend, fancy degrees and rented tuxedos do not make one superior. It's pretty safe to assume everyone on this thread has very little knowledge about what our Gov't gets up to and how it goes about doing it. Most of what is argued vehemently here on FARK is speculation at best. Claims of superiority merely invalidate what little knowledge you may actually have.

Luch time - I'll check in later for you oh so superior response.

AntHow many of you over-30 Farkers did stupid stuff and made dumbass decisions in your early-mid twenties?

Nice try, but I'm not gonna get derailed. The topic isn't what you stole from the 7-11 as a punk high schooler, or that girl at the frat house with the other guys on the team. The topic is Bush cheating his way out of combat service, then going AWOL. Got it?

I've rephrased the survey to make it germaine to the topic at hand:

How many of you over-30 Farkers used rich and powerful connections to cheat your way out of combat service during wartime, thereby causing somone else to go instead of you? How many of you over-30 Farkers went AWOL for 17 months as soldiers during wartime?

This isn't about blowjobs, pot, coke, or political parties. It's about cheating at the expense of other people's lives. God damn it.

How about offering equal opportunity to go along with equal rights.

You can't have both. They're incompatible. You can only provide that "equal opportunity" by violating the rights of others. The fact of reality is people have different abilities. Don't punish the good for being the good.

Keep in mind that the KLA didnt go killing ever Serb in sight after the Yugoslav war. Clinton's NATO intervention plan worked and peace was kept.

A "What if?" Timeline

Suppose Bush Jr. went to Vietnam. What would happen then?

My Infinite Probability machine says that Bush Jr. would have died when his jet crashed into a mountain range. After this, Bush Sr. would have been so distrought that he retired from politics. Regean would have had a different VP, in this case, Donald Rumsfield. This resulted in Iraq getting even more WMD's. Eventually, Iraq conquered Iran, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. Saddam ended up in controll of the world's largest oil reserves and we couldn't do anything about it because he held Israel hostage. Now oil costs $5 per gallon and America lost the cold war. Russia is the current superpower and controlls nearly half the globe. Cuba became a stylish island resort for the leaders of the soviet union and Castro now has more money than president Dan Quayle.

"Or did you say it's the love of money that's the root of all evil? To love a thing is to know and love its nature. To love money is to know and love the fact that money is the creation of the best power within you, and your passkey to trade your effort for the effort of the best among men. It's the person who would sell his soul for a nickel, who is the loudest in proclaiming his hatred of money- and he has good reason to hate it. The lovers of money are willing to work for it. They know they are able to deserve it."

Bush is still better than Gore. (and I voted for Gore)

Don't like it? well you get to make another choice in 2004 dontcha. Good luck left, most of the liberals have hung themselves politically during this war.

Remember, everytime a braindead whiteboy dreadlocked hippie protester is shown babbling bullshiat on t.v., a liberal jumps to the other side.

Key

A lot of military in my family. Older brother did 1st Marines in Vietnam 69-71. Came back to the states but not home. So if Bush did not report for 17 months as he was supposed to then I will not have respect for him. I may support the same ideas but I would not support him. On your specific question, I believe that his father had the capacity to provide influence. I can understand a parents desire to not lose one of their children but know for the young adult to value the duty of every American.

Xtremehkr: "How many of those people do you know? or do you only know that you don't agree with what they were doing?"

It's not whether I disagree or not, it's just that people need to use some common sense. when you act suspicious, people will suspect you. I repeat - their rights were not violated, they were just being questioned. If their rights were violated, then i would be concerned. but as it is, some people are just biatching because they are being called on their suspicious behavior. behaviour is the key word. it's not the same as racial profiling or something like that. those peopl acted wierd, and should not be surprised when other people think they are weird. and in a time when many people are concerned for their safety, theres nothing wrong with people asking legitimate questions.

I'll go back to the poster of Bush with people hanging in the background. thats just plain weird, man. It would be a phunny photoshop here in a fark thread, but to hang a poster like that on your wall? thats obsession. and crazy people with an obsession for political figures can be a dangerous thing.

defend your original statement that the Dixie Chicks sales are the highest that they have been since their album was released, or admit you lied to make a point.

Ahh, I get it. You're right, I didn't make clear what I meant in that line, and no it isn't correct. Their albumn sales are at the highest point they have been since the albumbs initial release was what I meant, albumns from established artists peak on release, then drop, in the last week theirs rose back into the top 5.

I was preparing to quote the stats showing they came back from #6 to #4 so it made no sense to say they were selling at their best volume ever. I was careless and stuffed the grammar too, mea culpa.

I didn't check that statement before making it regardless, so there might have been fluctuations in the middle I don't know about.

Now - you willing to admit that much of their 'sales drop' was biased media beatup ? Make me proud.
