I actually saw that Frankenstein ad on another TV network. I thought it was farkin' hilarious! Almost SNL like in the presentation. Frankenstein monstor doing Yoga or Tai Chi or whatever. Farkin' priceless.

2003-04-10 11:39:39 AM
Access Denied? Darn

2003-04-10 11:39:40 AM

2003-04-10 11:39:43 AM

FIRE, BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!

"The ad promotes the legal downloading of music over the Internet."

DAMN THEM for promoting the legal downloading of music over the Internet. Liberal pansies.

And I liked the Frankenstein spot.

2003-04-10 11:41:01 AM
Maybe they yanked it because it sucked

2003-04-10 11:41:15 AM
Commercials? What are those? Not me Tivo!

2003-04-10 11:41:46 AM
What, no Outpost.com ads?

2003-04-10 11:41:59 AM
Man, that Aguilera video is scary... Definitely would not hit it. Unless it were naked. And quiet.

2003-04-10 11:43:21 AM
this got posted? that gateway ad has been on tv numerous times...and does anyone actually watch cbs? come on

2003-04-10 11:43:59 AM
Bump: Just copy and paste the URLs from the browser into Windows Media Player. It's the mms:// URL throwing the browser off, WMP should open it fine.

2003-04-10 11:44:04 AM
Thank you corporate controlled media. Back to your regularly scheduled prescription drug ads.

2003-04-10 11:44:31 AM
I've seen both spots. The Frankenstein one is far funnier, though I did have a somewhat difficult time achieving climax to either.

2003-04-10 11:44:53 AM
I saw that deoderant ad on tv not too long ago, I thought it was fairly neat.

2003-04-10 11:45:38 AM
Unless it were naked. And quiet.

ROFL

Billyk, I think old people watch CBS. Isn't CBS the channel that Law And Order comes on?

2003-04-10 11:47:07 AM
yo bump,

just go to www.versiontracker.com and do a search for VLC Worked fine for me

2003-04-10 11:47:08 AM

2003-04-10 11:47:25 AM
I've seen this ad already.
meh

2003-04-10 11:47:27 AM
Umm As for Christina I would hit it until I needed an IV.

2003-04-10 11:47:46 AM
A comedian once described CBS' demographic as 50-dead. That about sums it up.

2003-04-10 11:49:12 AM
VLC played all the spots for me

Isn't CBS the channel that Law And Order comes on?

That's NBC. CBS is all CSI.

2003-04-10 11:49:37 AM
The ad actually brings up issues on both sides. Asshats.

2003-04-10 11:50:31 AM
Bring back Murder She Wrote, you bastards!

*shakes fist*

2003-04-10 11:50:36 AM
I'm going to boycott CBS. Which will be a challenge because I never watch CBS.

2003-04-10 11:51:06 AM
I don't understand what was so devestating about those commercials, except of course the celine Dion one. Can anyone explain to me why they were upsetting enough to be considered "disturbing"? (Except of course the Celine Dion one) We all know she is disturbed, I mean disturbing.

2003-04-10 11:52:19 AM
That advertisement is too damn violent for TV. Imagine what it does to America's impressionable children.

Now back to round-the-clock war coverage.

2003-04-10 11:52:45 AM
Grizzled Old Fark, I know people throw this phrase around a lot, but I seriously sprayed my monitor with Coke after I read this:

I don't much cotton to computers

Well done sir, well done.

2003-04-10 11:52:47 AM
The Franenstein ad, had it been played during the Super Bowl(tm) would have been the ad of the year.

Far funnier than just about anything else on the tube. Classic stuff. This is one we'll be seeing for years on the World's Greatest Commercials(tm) things.

OBB
2003-04-10 11:53:58 AM
The Frankenstein commercial = Coolest coommercial I've seen since the singing cow for BBQ sauce.

2003-04-10 11:54:05 AM
Wasn't CBS the Cowboy (or Country) Broadcasting System?

Andy Griffith
Mayberry RFD
Hee Haw

2003-04-10 11:55:36 AM
Frankenstien commercial = funny

2003-04-10 11:55:59 AM
Another ad that CBS has pulled recently:

2003-04-10 11:56:24 AM
god, streaming video sucks

2003-04-10 11:56:40 AM
I wonder if the Frankenstein ad will get an addie. Of coures, I'm a marketing geek and actually wonder about these kind of things.

Like the Sprint PCS commerical with the dachsund/oxen too.

2003-04-10 11:58:59 AM
Dear Mr. Fark Headline writer:

Those other spots (commercials) are "of note", not ''upsetting" as you headlined. Except the Celine Dion thing, as mentioned above by Mjording. Anything about Celine or her grandfather/husband is upsetting to me.

Thank you for your time.

I don't know, that Frankenstein spot just weirds me out. It's too earnest, like the humor is supposed to be subtle, but meanwhile freakin' Frankenstein is stomping around.

And another thing, C.B.who?

2003-04-10 12:02:44 PM
Catfight sequel was good

2003-04-10 12:03:21 PM
Gateway really pulled the ad because of pressure from Apple execs, who were pissed that such a large number of people were ABLE to download, rip and burn on a PC.

/too easy

04-10-03 12:01:28 PM Destined_for_nothing
Commercials can't be good unless they have monkeys in them.

This is too true.

2003-04-10 12:05:27 PM
Destined_for_fark: I agree, the trunk monkey ad is freakin hilarious and it's all the monkey.

2003-04-10 12:05:39 PM
CBS is the "Old People Station" that plays old geezer favorites like Matlock and Murder She wrote. Most of the commericals were targeted to a young/middle aged audience who appreciate hot latin girls, Monster satire, androids getting blown up, etc.. What can I say: old people just suck.

Destined_for_nothing - So true. I have a fever and the only prescription for that fever is more monkeys.

2003-04-10 12:07:33 PM
Am I wrong for wanting to see less tall sweaty men jumping around and more Christina?

Also...

Rip, Mix, Burn...perhaps somebody at CBS reads "Wired"?

2003-04-10 12:07:41 PM
The Gateway ad did suck, good reason not to run it. It was incoherent and full of young, hip stereotype fantasies, maybe stole them from Virgin Mobile ads.

What's with WiMP anyway? The audio sucks, very poor quality. Quicktime would have been much better, good video and audio. Is MS buying all these people off?

2003-04-10 12:09:12 PM
Contact Cbs's Sales department and let them know that you also don't support the... uh, legal music download ads.

http://www.cbs.com/sales/contact/contact.shtml

2003-04-10 12:10:21 PM
Good thing they didnt advertise that commercial. We wouldnt want people to know you can download and burn music. That commercial could have destroyed the music industry all together.

/sarcasm...if you couldnt tell

2003-04-10 12:13:04 PM
That Blipvert made me explode. Well, I got better.

2003-04-10 12:14:13 PM
CBS?

Maaaaaaaaaaaatlock!

2003-04-10 12:14:56 PM
The Gateway ad doesn't say anything about downloading music illegally. But they don't air it? Sheesh. CBS records has the TV division by the nads, huh.

Yet we have the Mac testimonial with the stoner girl and the Dell Dude®. *groan*

Yet we have the Mac testimonial with the stoner girl and the Dell Dude

Whatever happened to Fark's obsession with Ellen?
