I don't see why he'd be such a bad choice. It's not like he's freaking Shia LaBeouf or anything.

phew, that means there's still hope that it will be bruce campbell!

Because he's older than Aragorn, that's why. He's a great actor, but I don't know if he's up for fighting a bunch of giant spiders.

bilbo was a bit younger in the hobbit than he was in LOTR.

It'll be Tom Cruise! Heck, they don't even need to pull off camera tricks to make him look like a hobbit.

Of course he's older than Aragorn. I saw the movie, and there are no spiders in Hobbit Town. Maybe in the new one it will get invaded by orks, though, and he could get his ring back to outwit them. That would be cool. (Plus, more Liv Tyler.)

There is the age thing. I would think they would want an actor that looks like a younger version of Ian Holmes.

I honestly think Billy Boyd would have been good for that, but he already played Pippin.

So? People are supposed to look older in sequels. He could team up with that guy from the Matrix (who would also look older, duh) and fight the bog wraiths.

Yeah, and Gollum looks just like Andy Sirkis.

How about that guy that played the robot in Alien? He's a lot younger than "Holmes"

OK. I'll give you a 9/10 because I'm pretty hard to troll.

I dunno. I thought Elijah Wood was a horrible choice when I first heard about it, and it seemed to work out all right. I'll trust the casting decisions on this one until proven otherwise.

No one wants to point out the obvious? They only said they have not chosen a bilbo yet, they are still doing auditions. Toby could still win the part

I don't think Tobey Maguire would be a bad choice at all. He has that weird child-like face.

But then I'm not a LOTR fanatic.

Well, I'm not sure you can cast a black man, but that would be cool:

I wish I could tell you that Strider fought the good fight, and the Ring Wraiths let him be. I wish I could tell you that - but Mordor is no fairy-tale world. He never said who did it, but we all knew. Things went on like that for awhile - prison life consists of routine, and then more routine. Every so often, Strider would show up with fresh bruises. The Ring Wraiths kept at him - sometimes he was able to fight 'em off, sometimes not. And that's how it went for Strider - that was his routine. I do believe those first two years were the worst for him, and I also believe that if things had gone on that way, this place would have got the best of him.

2010-01-19 04:02:34 PM
good, now please keep Tobey away from the Rick Hunter spot he has been wanting. That would ruin any live action attempt that gets that far.

2010-01-19 04:07:11 PM
I think Ewan McGregor would be the ideal choice.

They probably haven't cast him because 1. he's older than sin; and 2. he's already turned down the role.

You can use movie magic to make a person look younger, but if you use too much you end up with this weird looking character that frightens little children. You do not want to frighten little children with Bilbo as that's not what Bilbo is known for.

Although there have been rumors of Ian Holm narrating (which would be awesome), even he admits that he's just not up to playing a young Bilbo Baggins on an adventure.

Does this mean I have to watch LOTR again now? I don't want to give up 10+ hours of my life again. (Extended editions, of course)
