How farking out of it do you have to be for your Bluetooth device to freak you out and cause you to drive into a lake?

He should be arrested for discharging a firearm.
Isn't that how it works in Cali?

"It's OnStar, how can I assist?"
"Please send the police, I insist!
I'm trapped in my ride,
There's water outside,
I shot at my window, and missed!"

It seems like this would blow his ear drums out. Better than dying, I guess...

Best submission of the day.

I laughed. Don't know why, but it's funny.

I should have been aborted: It seems like this would blow his ear drums out. Better than dying, I guess...

Yeah, exactly. I can't even imagine how loud that must be. I've fired in enclosed areas, but with doubled-up ear protection, and that was still pretty loud.

If he is this easily startled should he be carrying a gun?

How would a girl scout get alarmed by a Bluetooth unit kicking on, let alone an armed security guard.

Just fess up dummy...we all know you were watching porn on your phone and crashed.

/was behind an idiot the other night that decided to go straight when the road curved. (very minor ditch, not a damn cliff)
//night time, so you could see the person holding up the phone in front of them as it happened.

When have gun advocates cared about competence?

People in the UK would have drowned since guns are outlawed and only outlaws have guns.

/i went there cause it's true

Darwin usually takes out the fools with guns. That's why anti gun folks can't own one they are mostly Spengoans.

*sniff sniff*
smells like bullshiat.

first its seagulls, then its bluetooth headsets. if you are so easily distracted, you shouldn't be behind the wheel - ever.

Good for turning the lights out too.

Did he also use the gun to "flag down" the passing car?

2010-01-19 03:58:11 PM
Welcome to the suburbs of Sacramento, where every security guard is frightened of his own shadow.

Yep, that's a guy you can depend on when something goes down. Idiot.

2010-01-19 04:00:08 PM
The evil half of me is disappointed that the guy didn't forget to remove the magazine and/or the round in the chamber and shoot himself while trying to pistol whip the window out.

/could imagine a few security guards I know doing that

2010-01-19 04:03:45 PM
From TFA: "He used his gun to shoot himself out, then flagged down a passerby."

lolwut?

Sounds like a good argument for everyone to carry firearms...

Shot is not loud when you are panicked or in fear of your life. I can tell who has been in the shiat or not just by the ...oooh it is loud crowd.

One of the most dangerous things in driving is your loss of attention in the moment your cell phone rings. Still, no excuse for this guy.

Great. A security guard who freaks out and panics at a cell phone. And he's armed. He should have all gun priviledges taken away. Stat.

jehovahs witness protection: He should be arrested for discharging a firearm.

Uh. Yeah. Only it might have saved his life? Sure, he could have spent a lot longer punching the glass trying to break it, but at least it would have been legal!

/resume rhetoric.

Didn't this guy live?

2010-01-19 04:14:32 PM
...when the cell phone device activated. The driver was startled and veered off the road through the guardrail.

What the hell is his ringtone? Gary Busey singing Anything Goes?

Don't they get Mythbusters in Cali? I thought that was where it was filmed? Fer God's sake, just sit quietly while your vehicle submerges, take a deep breath, and open the door once the pressure equalizes.

Or... roll the damn window down?

Why the H E double hockey sticks would shooting the window out be the first thing they tried?

/yes - I RTFA - still don't understand
//maybe shooting the window out was the last thing they tried
//sounds like he should have done the right thing and gone down with the ship..

2010-01-19 05:31:11 PM
Ok..he sounds like an idiot. First of all..a cell phone going off should not scare you so much that you freak out and drive off the road. Second of all..why didn't he just wait for the pressure to equalize and then open the door?

/take his gun away..he's scaring the kids.

2010-01-19 05:40:30 PM
I locked my keys in the car yesterday so I shot out the lock. I would have shot out the window but it was rolled down.

That brought to you by the N.S. Sherlock Dept.
Bleeding from the ears isn't minor though

SweetDickens: Shot is not loud when you are panicked or in fear of your life. I can tell who has been in the shiat or not just by the ...oooh it is loud crowd.

The loud crowd is the one you want to be a part of. You know, the people who don't drive their cars into a lake because they got a phone call.

2010-01-19 06:00:05 PM
Yeah, don't roll open a window and let the pressure equalize a bit, and THEN open the door. That would make sense and protect your ears. But let's go ahead and shoot our way out of it.

TFA reads like a perfect storm of idiocy.

If he's this easily startled, he should have died of shock by now.

He's lucky.

Hello, 911? There's some guy by the side of the road waving a gun and running towards traffic. He's soaking wet and covered with mud and weeds. He looks like some kind of psychotic swamp thing!

"Okay dokie, we're dispatching the 'crazy guy with a gun' removal team now..."
