Just a PSA, condoms don't protect you from Herpes. Assuming you can get her even a little wet (ie. you get wet from her 'fluids'), the virus can get passed on. Take a shower immediately after sex, use soap, and you'll decrease your chances.

They conducted the research by giving people exams, and going off of previously reported data. If a 12 year old has herpes, they should be seeing a doctor. Even if they don't, I don't know why it's sick that they'd have a pelvic exam. As soon as a woman becomes sexually active, she should be going in for annual pelvic exams. Even if she's 12.



The statistic didn't surprise me. Herpes isn't the end of the world. People flip out about it, but if 1 in 5 people in this country have it, it can't be that bad. I sort of put it on the same level as having a cold. Annoying, and painful sometimes, but not really a lifestyle change.

I would like to apologize. I am very sorry for all this Herpes. I will try not to curse mankind with hideus sexually transmitted diseases again. I guess the first cas of herpes was just to see if I could and after that I was kind of on a roll. I'm really sorry! And I'll try not to do it again.

There is no real test for genital herpes. You can get a blood test to see if you have either Herpes Simplex I or II in your bloodstream, but that's very nonspecific - over 80% of people have at least one in their blood (cold sores!).

It is definitely possible to get genital herpes through oral sex, even with condom use. Most new infections in women came from oral contact.

I don't know how you can say you are "clean" unless you have neither form in your blood test results (unlikely), as most people never have ANY symptoms.

And finally, it's possible that if you have a cold sore, you can give yourself genital herpes. Not just by giving yourself oral sex, but any sort of enthusiastic sexual session involving more than one form of contact (kissing and oral sex, 69ing then intercourse, etc).

It's scary, but definitely not the end of the world. Simplex I is much scarier than the classic genital II, as it can infect your brain (rarely) and cause death. Yikes! Or, if you wet your contact in your mouth and have type I (which most people do), you could blind yourself. Hooray!
