The selection includes chilli, tomato, gherkin, onion, mushrooms in wine, garlic, and cream of crab.

Um, barf?

Customer: Yes, my good man, one scoop of vanilla please.

Shopkeeper: Vanilla? Not much call for that flavor round here, squire.

I don't know if they carry barf flavour - you'll have to ask.

If you do ask, be sure to use the full name: barfolomew.

There's only a few really good flavors of ice cream out there anyway.

I was once in Bar Harbor, and discovered to my utter horror that one of the stores there was selling Lobster Ice Cream. The only thing I could think was that some tourist somewhere had actually ordered that, thinking it was some "quaint local delicacy", while the locals manning the store laughed themselves silly.

How YOU doin'? *wink* *wink*

Purist, I stick with coffee, chocolate, or turtle sundae myself. Oh, and once a year the local ice creamery has pumpkin pie ice cream, mmmm.

... I would totally try that.

Americans are under misconceptions about what ice cream should taste like. Not everyone in the world eats chocolate, vanilla, and strawberries for dessert. Now that lobster ice cream? That's just crazy, but I like crazy. Know what sounds even better? Lobster bisque ice cream.

/I'm not a dare-devil but I do like extreme eating. It's how I can be adventurous without the risk of a broken spine.

This is a fun story, but I remember reading about this a few months ago. I'm pretty sure they had Broccoli flavored ice cream and such like that.

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw once..

a guy is in an ice cream shop that has a sign saying '5,000 flavors'.. he is holding an ice cream cone with a hairy scoop of ice cream on it.. The ice cream vendor is saying.. "Vanilla? I thought you said Gorilla?"

whats the big deal? I made sweet potato with amaretto icecream the other night. Was awesome!!

I have had that same exact Lobster Ice Cream in that shop in Bar Harbor.
It was not bad. Kinda Vanilla with little bits of Lobster in it.
Gimmicky, but i had to try it.

Flavors to avoid include "nasty ass", "gangrene", "afterbirth", "cat hair", "tentacle rape", "pustule cream with cherries", "Ogrish", and "Gorgor".

According to Mrs. YPI, not only is it NOT a flavor, it is not even an option.

After a quick google I think the Japanese have the worst flavored ice cream.

ISTR reading something in 1989 that said: "Worst ice-cream flavor ever? Spam Sushi." I have a recipe for Guinness-flavored ice cream here, which sounds great, but I'd probably never make it unless a bunch of local friends wanted to try it out.

Just saw that list. The one that really struck me was pit viper-flavored ice cream. Seriously Japan... wtf?

In the VanHouten household it is. 5 days a week Puppers VanHouten gets a fresh raw beefbone. Not as big as the one in your pic though (unless it's bath day). She also gets ice cream.

Bertie Bott's Every-Flavor Beans. They were sold by jelly belly for a while. You can get them now in a box called Beanboozled.

I'm hoping for bacon flavored icecream

One of the The Fat Duck's specialities is "Nitro-Scrambled Egg and Bacon Ice Cream". It's not quite what you might think, fantastic stuff though.

I can't wait to get back to Gainesville next month. Sweet Dreams ice cream parlor makes some of my favorite weird flavors, I heart their vanilla chai, balsalmic strawberry, sweet rice, and salty caramel flavors.

Bacon and egg was worth a try and good flavor-wise, but the bacon was chewy. When the article mention the beef flavor, I could believe it was good. Once SD had chocolate terryaki, which was meaty and somehow delicious.
