GMs never reward failed Charisma checks. Duh.

For anyone interested, Tiger had a pretty silly response to it as seen here. (new window)

Was getting a free GM vehicle really a perk?
Not exactly sure I'd consider it that, heh. :)

Woods' endorsement contract with GM's Buick brand ended in 2008, but an arrangement remained in place that allowed him to keep several GM loaner vehicles. A spokesman says the arrangement ended on Dec. 31.

Considering where he tried to park that SUV, up a tree.

Unearned? You know there are people out there that at least look into that vehicle because he drives it. He's bringing them business. Not saying that's RIGHT, but just saying he did earn it.

2010-01-13 04:56:34 PM
Well, a bankrupt company giving free stuff to a billionaire never made much sense anyway.

Its not "free". The companies giving him free stuff derives value from it by having him represent the company. Do you think they would be able to derive any value out of giving you something free?

2010-01-13 04:57:50 PM
only because the corporate brass at GM never frkkk outside of their marriages.

they just would never do that.

Yeah, I'd drive a GM because Tiger Woods does.
Celebrity endorsements reveal how stupid most people are. And they get to vote. Still, point made about how if GM gave me a free car it would do them no good.

Dear GM,

It's a cheesy gesture. Many of us have known you for a long time so climb down from the high-horse and fix your own shiat.

PS. Tiger probably dropped you first anyway.

You've got to wonder about how much celebrity endorsements actually work though. I suspect that it's one of those idiot "follow the sheep" business trends like paying CEOs mega-millions or outsourcing everything. "Hey, I read about some guy in Forbes doing it - so it must be good."

GM files bankruptcy, lays off 20,000 workers, closes plants, drops brands, and can still find a way to give out bonuses?

I thought this wasn't going to happen again.

And, as usual, they are giving the bonuses to the richest employees.

People who use their head understand that it's not about getting people to say, "OMG Tiger has that car and now I want one, too!!1!" it's that when your product is being used by someone who is constantly being photographed and is constantly in the media, your product is therefore also being photographed and in the media. It's advertising. It's pushing brand name recognition using the reach of celebs. It's keep your product in the public eye. Nothing more, nothing less.

People who use their heads understand this.
