Maybe now they'll make a decent one.

2010-01-11 08:14:18 PM
What a shocker!

2010-01-11 08:14:25 PM
Damnit that sucks.

Kinda always figured they'd never get around to making a 4th one.

Why oh WHY DID YOU HAVE TO MAKE HIM EMO IN #3?!!

The movie was awesome...except for that part. The emo-jazz dancing, WTF?

2010-01-11 08:14:46 PM
Thank god. Those movies had hit rock bottom and started digging with heavy machinery.

Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 were the best comic-to-movie films in a very long time. I just can't wait to see how a boardroom full of suits will improve it! Should be classic.

meh

after the crapfest of Spider-Man 3, I'm not too broken up by this news.

I do worry, however, that they'll take the hint from Dark Knight and make Spidey grim and gritty.

2010-01-11 08:18:26 PM
Just please - go easy on the origin story. We know. We know.

The third one sucked but Sony suits taking Raimi out of the picture is nothing to get excited about. I can see the meeting now:

"We need more of a Michael Bay type feel. And more lens flares."

2010-01-11 08:20:38 PM
Although 3 didn't stand up very well to the first two, I still enjoyed the flick.

What saddens me most is that Raimi won't be at the helm. He had probably the best vision of how to bring the essence of a comic out visually, and likely won't be matched like that in the near future. I can't really describe how it was to watch his version of Spidey except that it seemed to be a 'moving comic book', if that makes any sense. His visual style is unparalleled and was perfect for the genre.

I'm praying for a reboot along the lines of the McFarlane bit back in the day.
Now THAT was a reboot to be reckoned with.

2010-01-11 08:21:07 PM
Do we REALLY need another goddamned origin story for Spider Man? Really?

2010-01-11 08:21:09 PM
So we're rebooting franchises within the decade now? And the studios think this is a good idea?

Does he keep doing the birthday party appearances now?

2010-01-11 08:23:42 PM
When we were watching S3, the audience applauded when Spidey smacked MJ. Best movie moment ever!

2010-01-11 08:23:43 PM
I was annoyed at the idea of Sandman being the reason Uncle Ben died. Just awful, awful stuff.

So I guess that's good? And now Spider-Man can at least be funny while in costume.

didn't mean to actually post that...

Wow, it's about time they rebooted that series. It's been years. several years. I wonder when they're gonna reboot Batman?

it'd be great if this time they were, OH I DON'T KNOW, true to the character...

but of course, its sony, so i'm not expecting much

disney should pony up and buy the rights back... it'd only cost like 1 trillion pennies

2010-01-11 08:34:58 PM
Mayne they can replace Kirsten Dunst with someone attractive.

Is the reboot caused by Mephisto?

The Spider-Man movies were last decade.

I enjoyed all 3 Spiderman movies as lightweight popcorn comic book flicks.

Tobey Maguire I can take or leave, but I'd be sad to see this guy disappear from the franchise:

Also flashbacks featuring Willem Dafoe are better than no Willem Dafoe at all.

No, they weren't. The new decade starts next year.

Now that Disney owns Marvel I expect some legal shenanigans to enter the picture.
Sony vs. Disney.
No matter who wins, we all lose.

No more emo, pining superheroes. EVER. If you're badass enough to take on super villains, get your ass kicked, and destroy stuff, I fully expect you to handle a little broken heart or unrequited love. For God sake, man up!

2010-01-11 08:55:24 PM
Well, you can't expect people to suspend disbelief enough to buy Tobey McGuire as Peter Parker, much less Topher Grace as Eddie Brock/Venom. Thank the maker that this reboot is going down, I'd hate to see who Rami would have cast as Carnage. Maybe John Mayer, if the trend had continued...

Tobey Maguire should've been Harry Osborn and James Franco should've been Peter Parker/Spidey.

Based on the reports flying around, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that meeting this afternoon:

Raimi: "I know you want it by May 2011, but I don't want a repeat of Spider-Man 3. I need till May 2012 if I'm going to nail this one."

Sony: "Nope. May 2011."

Raimi: "Kthnxbai."

Sony: "Well, crap. Guess we're going to have to reboot, then. When can we have it out? May 2012? Perfect!"

I am still waiting for a 'franchise' to get 'rebooted' by two different film studios at once. I want to see two simultaneous and unrelated releases of something dueling for rights to release the first rebooted sequel.

2010-01-11 09:07:30 PM
While I did like the first one, this is a good thing. Hopefully, they'll wait until at least the second movie to snap Gwen's spine.

/No wimpy Eddie Brock either

A reboot? For farks sake.

But before they do that, they'll probably have Gwen sleep with Norman Osborne.

Shrugging Atlas: A reboot? For farks sake.

Sony is in love with Venom, a villains that's really, really stupid.
And Spidey's got a lot of stupid villains.

How about they just recast everyone except for Jameson and see if they can make a good one?

Spiderman 2 was good.
Although that was mostly Alfred Molina's doing.

Msol: What a shocker!

I thought it seemed really mysterious. And look at all these fark vultures making snarky comments. I'm too craven to even read. This might be my last hunt on fark. That will make tomorrow like a brand new day.
