I don't want him to do my taxes.
I just want the amount of money he makes in the time it takes ME to do MY taxes.

Oh, and "me too" to the auto-numbering thingy. Has anyone ever gotten that thing to work right?

I hate auto-numbering!!!

I do my own taxes though.

2003-04-07 11:01:53 AM
in highschool i took a semester long class on how to use word and i still can't get the auto-numbering off. i hate that thing!

2003-04-07 12:25:54 PM
Geez people, auto-numbering isn't that difficult to turn off.

2003-04-07 05:18:08 PM
lol it's amusing to see how many people hate that damn feature...

2003-04-07 05:18:34 PM
No doubt, considering Microsoft Corp pays NO TAXES.

2003-04-07 05:19:29 PM
I've never had a problem with auto-numbering. But I do sometimes have problems with the line spacing - single, single & 1/2, double...sometimes I can't change what it is set on and it drives me nuts.

2003-04-07 05:19:40 PM
Wow! I haven't read any fark articles on Billy in quite some time.

Doesn't he feel old-school to you now?

2003-04-07 05:19:40 PM
Die, Clippy, Die!

2003-04-07 05:21:35 PM
Yeah, since he has so much experience paying them. *roll*

"Actually, sir, thanks to our creative bookkeeping, we only pay about $4 a year."

"You're right! We're getting screwed!"

"According to a new tax survey by SBC Communications, 28 percent of Americans say they'd love to have the Microsoft mogul around while doing their taxes -- especially with electronic filing."

Personally, I'd like to have Salma Hayek around when I'm doing my takes, not to help me, but... just BECAUSE !

Add the BSOD to the list of things that will get you audited.

I concur! The taxes might never get done but who the fark would care?

2003-04-07 05:26:23 PM
no, i want him to pay for my college education. Which is pocket change for him, so why not?

2003-04-07 05:27:16 PM
I want him to get rid of "Clippy". I barely ever use Word, but when I do, I hate this little bugger

This is by far the worst article ever posted on fark, including every broken link ever posted.

Bill Gates doing your taxes would land you in prison, unless you can afford a bigger legal team than the DOJ team. Then they would allow you to keep doing your taxes wrong, but you would have to show the numbers to your "select partners."

2003-04-07 05:32:44 PM
Sorry about that, it should have read:

Americans want Bill Gates to PAY their taxes.

2003-04-07 05:34:43 PM
This just in, 88% of Americans are complete idiots. Out of that number 100% voted for George Bush.

2003-04-07 05:35:16 PM
Someone got paid to write that survey. I'm going to cry now...

2003-04-07 05:36:00 PM
If someone came to me with those stupid questions, I would have them audited.

2003-04-07 05:36:31 PM
The point isn't that auto numbering is hard to turn off or not. The point is that it should never be on by default!

2003-04-07 05:36:33 PM
I would rather have Osama Bin Laden around while I do my taxes, because that way, I could call in the FBI and turn him in for the reward. That would be the best fiscal year ever!

On a windows related note, can anyone get into hotmail?
It's been telling me for about two days now that I need to enable cookies, yet cookies are enabled (even set it on prompt to make sure). It's only hotmail and Windows Updates that seem to be giving me problems.

2003-04-07 05:37:16 PM
Is there anyone, anywhere out there, who actually finds the Word auto-numbering thingee useful?

Just wondering.

2003-04-07 05:40:40 PM
Surveys like this make me wonder what question they asked people.

Perhaps it was something like: "which of the following 10 people would you like to do you taxes for you:"

2003-04-07 05:42:11 PM
I think I would rather have a competent tax accountant do my taxes, have Bill Gates pay them, and have Selma Hayek for reasons that have nothing to do with taxes

2003-04-07 05:42:35 PM
Person,/b>

Hotmail is fine.

2003-04-07 05:43:14 PM
Does anyone know where to find out how much Microsoft really DID pay in taxes last year? I mean they are a publically traded corporation...

Holy heiney, that's an absolutely stupid poll.

What celebrity would you rather have check out your groceries:
1) Steve Buscemi
2) Nathan Lane
3) Nat King Cole
4) Glenn close

Is there anyone, anywhere out there, who actually finds the Word auto-numbering thingee useful?

Yep. I use it at work for policy documents and such.. numbered headings, auto-table-of-contents, etc. I've also used it at school.

No insight, just a data point.

2003-04-07 05:51:32 PM
how about he PAY for my taxes instead?

2003-04-07 05:51:51 PM
As a tax accountant and an intelligent human being I am embarrassed by this study! Do you think that it is actually Bill Gates who does his own taxes?!?!?! He probably looks at them just long enough to sign them. It is CPAs and our kind that do all the dirty work and make it look so easy. I cannot believe this study. Emeril Lagasse for chrissakes!

/goes off to do more taxes as it is busy season, fuming at the stupidity of everyone in her country, muttering to self "when I control the world, all the stupid will be silenced, oh yes they will"

12 percent think that Bill O'Reilly could keep their tax returns honest.

Was this between Pete Rose and John Gotti?

Hehe. 'Deductions!? Trying to squirm out of your duties as a citizen, eh? We have ways of dealing with commie traitors like you!"

All I want is to do a bibliography or a works cited page without Word trying to number, format, indent, and otherwise screw up which should be a 4 minute process. Word is just too damn helpful.

28 percent of Americans say they'd love to have the Microsoft mogul around while doing their taxes

That same 28% seems to think that if you know anything at all about computers, you'd automatically know how to file taxes electronically

Let's have Bill Gates deliver this trillion dollar bill. As the richest American he's obviously the most trustworthy.

For all the clippy haters, you know can switch him to something else by choosing "options" in this word bubble right? You can change it to another character, or get rid of the help guy altogether. Mine is the dog :p
