"Bob here with traffic, and we're seeing a little pile up Berber, and it looks like the intersection of Couch and Hood is a complete mess. In fact, things look bad all the way to Dining Room Table, so I'd recommend taking Kitchen as an alternate route"

There are some really big hills in that part of Cincinnati. I'd hate to live there in the winter.

Crap like this happens all the time.

"Trying to negotiate a turn" is news lingo for "he wasn't paying attention, was going way too fast and/or a cell phone was involved"

Seriously...how do you 'negotiate a turn' so badly you end up hitting a house unless one of the above conditions apply?

Icy conditions come to mind, speaking as someone whose grown up driving in the snow and ice of Buffalo, there are times when no amount of caution will save you if you hit a black ice spot.

Still, your point is (mostly) valid.

Bob Herzog is an awesome reporter, he does Dance Party Friday every Friday morning at 5:45a if there's no issues on the roads. You can watch some of them at http://www.youtube.com/user/Local12News and look on the right for some of his famous dances.

Do the sprinkler and lawnmower, Bob!

Still looks pretty good. Except for the hairstyle.

But I came here for the pictures of drivers who "failed to negotiate turns".

That would fall under "going too fast". If you're going fast enough to hit a house when you hit an icy patch, you're driving too fast for conditions.

There was an episode where Les ran over some people with his WKRP Action News scooter. Right after Herb sold him a lot of insurance. It had the classic Nesman description: "The scooter ran back and forth on the porch several times and then it seemed to become possessed. It knocked down the front door and ran right in..."

That and his description of Herb's boat going down the interstate with him, the little American flag blowing proudly in the wind.

With black ice, sometimes 0.5mph is "going too fast". Actually, sometimes 0mph is too fast, if you are pointed downhill. You can stand on the brakes and your car WILL NOT STOP. You could be mario andretti jr and you'd be farked.

But yeah, good drivers recognize when conditions can be like that you stay the fark off the road. Or trail a plow/salt truck.

When Chopper Four crashed into the Hudson, Chopper Four was first on the scene.

Slaming on the breaks when you hit an icy patch is not the correct course of action.

In bobs defense:

Picture going down a hill. The road turns right, 90 degrees, still downhill. The house is maybe 15 ft off the road.

Heh. I remember back when I applied to go to the University of Cincinnati, I spelled of Cincinnati wrong on the check for the application fee. I realized it after I mailed it away. I was positive they'd reject me on that basis. Unfortunately they didn't, and I wasted 2 years of my life attending UC.

About a dozen years ago when the job for Postmaster in Bethel, Alaska, opened, most of the applicants misaddressed their applications to Arkansas.
