The quote about the broken back is priceless: "No drivers for this film. We'd run out of money. [...] I didn't sue the company, I hate that sort of thing, so they gave me physical therapy and all that stuff plus they gave me free transport, which was very useful to finish the film up."

Yeah, it's a good thing you broke your back, so that you get free transportation for the rest of the film.

And he went begging for his prior film. All around, a decent interview.

I'm looking forward to this movie.

I saw Parnassus last weekend and I really enjoyed the movie. Visually, it was fantastic. The story was a bit light on substance, but it held together well.

It was definitely a Gilliam movie, with all the Gilliam quirks. I'd compare it closest in style to Brasil or Baron Munchausen - if you liked those movies, you'll like Parnassus.

I liked Munchausen, but thought the pacing of Brazil was too slow.

@TwistedFark

No way that's a real issue - she's not blonde and her boobs might be natural.

An artist with dreams is hoping to weather the loss of the character who brought true magic to the scene. Terry Gilliam's Imaginarium

Gilliam seems to have a good outlook on life.
He turns his bad luck into good fortune, instead of getting upset & blaming the world & expecting someone else to "fix" it for him.

You've gotta respect that.

So you're saying it's more like his older films rather than his newer ones, right? 'Cause I couldn't stand Tidewater.

/Not surprised he had to beg for that film. It would push any self-respecting financier away.

Just a little joke about how the man's death was one of the most over-hyped media obsessions in years.

I saw this at a movie festival last month, and it's one of the handful of films that I walked out on.

It's obviously Gilliam, visual interesting. But after an hour of my time, I decided I would be best elsewhere.

She has an unusual beauty, so there are a lot of things quirky about her. Very wideset eyes, puffy cheeks, tiny mouth, huge forehead.

Or are you referring to the fact that most of her 3-dimensional shape has been photoshopped out of those pics? I hate overly airbrushed shiat.

Probably. No doubt if it hadn't been for his role as the Joker it wouldn't have been half the spectacle it became.

Gilliam just got his chiropractor to put on Ledger's costume and wander around the set with his face obscured behind his arm.

Yep.

She has a "doll face". Really small features. Dunno why but I still think she's farking hot as all hell.

This: No way that's a real issue - she's not blonde and her boobs might be natural.

It's a French Playboy. Evidently they don't have such a fixation with pneumatic blondes.

Also... people comparing "Imaginarium" to "Munchausen" or "Brazil" or even "Time Bandits" (some of my all time favorite movies) are being far, far, far too nice.

poot_rootbeer: Gilliam just got his chiropractor to put on Ledger's costume and wander around the set with his face obscured behind his arm.

Well, he had eight other plans before that, but they didn't pan out, so that was his last resort.

I love Monty Python. I hate Terry Gilliam's movies. He makes interesting movies, but he has no clue how to actually end a movie in a way that makes sense. It infuriated me when he not only admitted this, but said that was intentional - "I don't want people to understand my movies with only a single viewing."

MORAN!!!! I have seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail Eleventy Brazilian times and I still hate the ending and I hate yooooooou more than anything else in the worl-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh!!!!!

How does it compare to the Confabulous Contraption of Professor Horatio Hufnagel ?

Wow. I disagree. I really, really liked it. Clearly it's not Brazil, but on my personal list of Gilliam efforts it's up there with Time Bandits and way, way, way better than Munchausen.
