A grizzly bear or a polar bear are monsters. So is a giant squid. Etc... Most people believe that these monsters exist, and they are right. This is well over 41% of literate people. (Some people mistakenly believe that the bears aren't monsters, but are primarily cute. These people are called dinner, and are not included in the statistics.)

OTOH, Nessie, dragons (non-komodo sorts), and many other monsters are fantasies, and do not exist. Please be more precise in your snark. Thank you.
