jevman: His version (i guess thats what you call it) of the Joker is everything I want my Joker to be, sick, twisted, but no moral conscious so he has a sense of humor about it all. Not Ledger's fault but that sense of humor was sorely missing from The Dark Knight. If they bring back the Joker for another Batman movie they should do what they should have done in the first place and give it to Hamill, and the very least he wouldn't have been found dead in an Olson Twin's apartment.

/maybe Carrie Fisher's
//BTW if you haven't played Arkham Asylum yet, rent it at the very least. The best video game based on a comic ever.

Hands down, Mark Hamill is my favorite Joker.

Haven't seen the game yet but the graphic novel rules. I knew they'd never make a movie out of it but I'm glad they at least made a game.

Hamill would make a kick ass theatrical Joker but I'm a Star Wars geek so what do I know.

Only in something like Dark Knight Returns or Batman Beyond or something like that. Dude's well past his 50s at this point, no way he can pull of being a live-action Joker unless he's up against a Kevin Conroy-aged Batman

damn, I never even noticed that he hadn't voiced Luke, ever, of all people that could've come back to the Saga in voice form. weird.

I'm guessing you mean based on the Batman comics in general, not on the Arkham Asylum graphic novel. The game and graphic novel are unrelated in all but name.

Indeed. I was going to say something like this, except I didn't know the voice actor's name. He nailed it spot on.

And add me to the growing list of "Hamil's Joker voice is the best Joker ever" folks.

It looks like he's pushing 60 now, but Jack Nicholson was around 50 when Tim Burton's Batman came out, so there's that.

Yup, I was going to bring this up too. I thought it was him doing it, should have checked the credits.

Also, I would like to lodge a request for that series to be revived.

And one of the best games of the decade. Had Uncharted 2 not come out, it would have won GOTY and Best Voice Acting (in my very non-humble opinion)

In all seriousness, the guy's a damn talented voice actor, and I'm glad he's found a non-Star Wars niche.

Really? I thought that while it looked pretty, there wasn't much substance to it. It certainly didn't compel me to finish it. I still haven't.

Didn't read the article, but he did voice Luke once, but only for a commercial. He did the TV spot voice over for the novel Vector Prime as Luke Skywalker.

But the NJO books were so awful, I don't blame anyone for forgetting that.

clearly you are soul-less hate Nolan North, and the awesomeness that is the Uncharted series

/Uncharted whore, if the gun gameplay frustrates you that is acceptable. But the story, the voice acting, I mean my god. Never has a game like this existed on a console. Absolutely fantastic. Loved every minute of it.

It's because of Batman: TAS and Mark Hamill's performance that his Joker will forever be my go to for that character. There's some YouTubery around, unable to access it from behind the work filter, of Hamill explaining what all goes into his Joker including a rather lengthy bit on the laugh. Damn good stuff.

Apparently he makes a mint year after year in the voice work alone, not including the insane fees he's paid to make appearances not just at Star Wars events but at anime/cartoon/gaming conventions.

I had heard a lot about Hamill's Joker portrayal but have never seen the cartoon or anything.

I picked up Arkham Asylum and have to agree. It's perfect. High pitched at times, but deadly and menacing when it needs to be.

I had no clue when I first started watching Metalocalypse. Then I saw his name flash in the credits and wondered who the hell he played, since I didn't recognize his voice at all. Once in awhile Hamill does a reporter and you can tell it's him, but you'd never know he does the regular characters.

I think it's pretty cool that Hamill has gone into an acting line that he excels in, rather than being one of those actors who does a few successful movies and then crashes into drug-addicted obscurity and/or death.

I never watched the Batman cartoon, I think it was on when I was in college or soon thereafter.

I do enjoy watching all the YouTube videos of Hamill doing his Joker laugh, however.

Wow, I thought everyone knew of that show's awesomeness.

And Hamill really has quite the resume. I note things like Wing Commander, Full Throttle, and Stripperella, too.

dj_spanmaster: And Hamill really has quite the resume. I note things like Wing Commander, Full Throttle, and Stripperella, too.

Well, in WC he was actually acting on-screen, not just as voice talent.

2010-01-06 10:27:16 AM
He voiced Luke in Robot Chicken, though he didn't mess around with trying to sound young. It's really hard to say that he couldn't do anything but an older Luke, given what a talented voice actor he is. It seems like at least a half dozen times a year, every year since I found out in the 90s that he was voicing the Joker, I find myself saying, "Holy crap, that was Mark Hamill?!"

I never thought he was the best actor (though his acting in the first Star Wars - maybe even Corvette Summer - is still better than that of those who get paid just to look pretty), but god damn, he is one talented voice actor! He even did Wolverine proud in the X-Men 2 tie-in game, Wolverine's Revenge.

Uncharted 2 was amazing. Batman: Arkham Asylum started great but quickly got repetitive. Mark Hamill is one of the nicest men I have ever met. I wish him nothing but the best.

I suppose it would have helped to note that, yes - or perhaps the separation between video games and film. But you know, whatever.

Haven't read it... correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Thrawn trilogy include clones of characters who get extra "u"s in their names? Luuke Skywalker? Seriously?

i guess the star wars 'vector arcade game' doesn't count.

-fail, you have.

hamill could have easily been indy...but he obviously didn't blow the cut ween.

it's not about how 'good' you are...

Didn't Mark have an accident during the Empire Strikes back shoot that somewhat severely scarred half his face? I seem to remember it being retconned in with the Hoth Cave scene (he gets mashed in the face by the ice monster). Might have something to do with his lack of Screen Acting.

Of course, he rocked in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. CokcKnocker for the win.

Best lines from the game IMHO is the final diatribe at the end when Batman meets him with Gordon. I don't remember the exact line but its something along the lines of "And beating on Harley...which by the way is my damn job"

That line and how it was read was just damn perfect.
