Good thing they got this vile thug off the street, who knows how many plants he could've grown in all. Just think about all the nutrients they're stealing from the ground, all the eyes they're offending, all the cute bunnies that could have been killed.

Waste of time and taxpayer money, but I guess that was sort of clever. That makes it worth it, right?

So, between the nation being broke, and most states, cities, and towns that are broke, we are still spending money and time busting people with pot plants.

Pot, people, pot. You know, the thing that is proven, beyond a shadow of a doubt, to be not nearly as harmful as alcohol, yet it's still against the law.

Priorities...America has them.....

Judging by that "w", whoever wrote that note has a major oedipal complex.

Also, these people should be grateful. They'll stimulate the economy by creating prison and law enforcement jobs, as well as justifying additional spending for their local police department when their 1.2 million dollar (street value) bust gets reported.

If it was this easy to strong arm him, he wasn't going to be a successful drug dealer anyway. "Hey, I took your shiat" can only be met with force. They should have found a loaded gun on him. What was he going to do if he got there and the person who took the weed just took his money? He should try to be a truck driver of go work in a bowling alley or something.

Is this even good PR? do people actually read that story and say: "good I'm glad they caught that guy" Seems like many more people would read that article and say: "geez, seems like the police have too much money in their budget if they are down to arresting a guy growing 6 pot plants"

Pot makes you totally stupid. And that's the No. 1 reason why it should be outlawed.

2010-01-05 01:35:54 PM
I just got a great idea.

Why don't we legalize pot and most other drugs, but only make it legal to buy the drugs that were seized by they cops.

Then, we could take that money, instead of hard working people, and give it to scumbags that leech off the system like that fat pig in yesterdays thread that got sterilized.

1. Dumd kids grow pot
2. Pigs take it
3. People buy it to enjoy
4. Profit! (for scumbags that are on welfare now)
5. Profit! (for tax payers who get to keep their money)

Not really a lot of effort, was it? Dig them up--would have done that anyway. All they did was write a note, wait for a call, and show up with handcuffs and guns (which they always have with them, in case you didn't notice).

You smoke too much pot.

Until the law is taken off the books I think people should stop complaining about the amount of "effort" it took.

It's a hand written note for god's sake. They didn't call in the fbi to work up a profile of the guy.

Yes, how else were they supposed to make a case against someone growing on a vacant lot? The only alternative I can think of would be a stakeout, which would require much more planning/resources.

Well, let's see... You need to hold evidence until (at least) after trial. By the time you sold it, your weed would be on par with what most people would smoke only in their darkest hours.

Of course, there's also the problem that it expands seizure laws, providing yet another goody that the police can confiscate and sell at a fraction of the value to its original owner. I'm all for folks being able to legally buy pot, but providing further incentive for (and expansion of) the already abused property seizure laws is not the direction we need to go in.

SMOIT!: Until the law is taken off the books I think people should stop complaining about the amount of "effort" it took.

Why? this law is also on the books in florida:

A special law prohibits unmarried women from parachuting on Sunday or she shall risk arrest, fine, and/or jailing

I'm curious if you think the police should be spending millions of dollars staking out skidiving places and do sting operations on them? it is a law after all.

jst3p: All that effort to get a guy growing some pot plants?

Not that much effort. They spent about thirty seconds writing a ransom note and then let him come to them. They didn't even have to do any leg work.

Now whether pot should be made legal is another matter.

I tend to be of the school of thought that it's no effort at all. I keep the math simple and round any negligible non-zero factors down to zero. I do tend to agree with your view of pot not being worth police effort, though.
