Alpine_Dino: StubePT: If you watched the game, you could easily see the Bengals were running the most basic plays from the playbook.

On defense, there were lining up in a 4-3-4 EVERY down. The Jets run the ball more than any other team in the NFL. Next week, the Bengals will be putting 8 and 9 guys in the box daring Sanchez, who is INT-prone, to thrown the ball against one of the best corner tandems in the league.

On offense, they did a lot of 3-step drops and simple outs, going long occasionally to get a feel for Revis; they ran the ball up the middle in their normal formations (instead of their big formations that they typically use). It was so vanilla, it offended Hershey.

Come Saturday, the Jets won't know what hit them.

That's what I'm thinking, too.

Im not gonna sit here and say that this isnt a possibility. But im not convinced. I sat there myself and debated the pros and cons of the Bengal throwing this game. At best by doing what they did, supposing it was intentional, what have they done, masked their play calling a bit? The Jets have footage of them playing in 15 other games. I dont think theres gonna be many suprises. Also maybe they are lulling sanchez into feeling comfortable and next week they are gonna do whatever it takes to make him throw the ball. This could potentially be advantageous, but if you think about it, Sanchez hasnt progressed much in terms of overcoming his turnovers, hes still prone to throw a few ints. So Im not sure doing this is beneficial. What have thye done for the Jets? Given them loads of confidence, potentially lost their star wide receiver in ochocinco, which essentially could mean that Revis will be ever to cover every man in the secondary. I mean. I just dont think the logic is there. But yes it is possible.

Im curious to see how the Jets play when they are behind in the second half and how that affects the way they like to play. And as a Colts fan, I really would like them to win. I also want to play the Chargers in the AFC championship game, and may the best team represent the AFC in the superbowl.

That can't possibly backfire. Nobody ever went wrong giving the opposing quarterback additional confidence.

Also, the Bengals did worse than lose. They got pushed around on both sides of the line. Completely abused. On any given play, the Cincy linemen should have been making some kind of progress. The line should be a real concern for the Bengals.

there their theyre: Hate to break it to ya but week 15 called and Dallas beat NO in the dome. Oh and week 16, when the lowly Bucs beat NO at home too.

That's why I said "again"... I don't think its going to happen.

Don't forget- the Saints only lost by 7 and 3 in their first two losses. They sat all of their starters, including QB, and only lost by 13 on the road.

Sure, anyone can beat anyone in the NFC. It would be foolish to bet against the Saints at home for the NFC Championship.

I totally disagree. I think in most cases, when you give a skill player confidence. Thats when they start to play well. when they are comfortable. If they really wanted to scare Sanchez, they should have made him throw a ton this game. Lineman, line backers, and other strength players, they can feed off of anger aggression. Wide outs, and QB's, in my eyes, they feed off of confidence. After writing this, i am beginning to realize that you may have been sarcastic, and my sarcasm meter was temporarily on the fritz.

Before the game NBC aired an interview where Chad Ochocinco sat down for an interview with Bob Costas. In that interview Bob asked Chad about his calling out of Revis during the week, and Chad stated that Revis was a great cornerback but there was no way Revis could cover him. Chad went so far in that interview to say that if Revis shut him down he would change his name back to Johnson.

So if I read the boxscore for yesterday's game correctly...next season it's back to Chad Johnson?

The Jets are on fire. They beat the Pats* at home for the first time since before Second Impact, ended Indy's shot at perfection and thoroughly sodomized the Bungles (who were actually trying to win but failed miserably - see, among other things, the drive in which they got 1st and 10 on the Jets' 12 and ending up PUNTING because of 3 penalties in 1st down [delay of game, illegal formation and false start] and an intentional grounding penalty that cost them the chance to at least try for a 50+ yard field goal.)

The Jets have all kinds of momentum and have the best defense in the NFL. They're kinda like the Giants were 2 years ago, which is a good thing.

/Of course, being a New York sports fan *coughcoughmetscoughandalsothefootballgiantscough* I fully expect a one- or two-point loss on the last play precisely because I would like the Jets to win

Im not convinced that there will be a repeat blowout in Cincy.

Both teams have beaten other very good teams this year and have lost to some bad teams. I reckon that when it means something Cincy will make a game of it.

Nah, it's going to be a close game. The difference will be whether or not Sanchez can make some plays. If so, Jets win. If not, Bengals.

I dont think Sanchez will have to do much. maybe 150 yards. No tds, and no ints will do it.

This seems to be the biggest debate here and I only think people are overall in NE's favor because the Pats have been so good for so long. Well. Guys, Im pretty sure the reign of terror is over. Brady has looked frighteningly human as of late. the D has been losing games as opposed to winning games, and they just lost their best offensive player. Thats right I said it. Wes Welker is the heart and soul of that team. Randys deep threat aint shiat with out Welker over the middle. Pats will lose to the Ravens, and it may even be close. But only because of Baltimores mistakes. Baltimores is a much more complete football team. And they have some momentum. The Pats just lost to the Texans in a game where they played their starters and it cost them Welker. DONE.

And in addition. I mean cant you just feel it? The Patriots really arent that relevent anymore. They used to be the litmus test for the league. Beat em and your elite. Not Anymore. The Pats are on a decline. Even last year without Brady they had more magic going for them. With Cassels run, and the effort and heart they showed. Not anymore. Sorry it just makes me giddy.

it might sound crazy but i do see the jets making it to the afc championship game because that's about as far as they have to make it to convince me they actually have a chance of making it to the superbowl. of course, since they are the jets after all this is just part of their plan to make jet fans miserable. they'll come up to an early lead, fall behind during the second half and lose on the final drive of the game; which most likely will be sanchez scrambling while not protecting the ball, which will get knocked loose, picked up by the defense and run back for the nail in the coffin putting to bed yet another season where i regret being a jets fan.

vinnydoz007: Sorry it just makes me giddy.

Me too. The Pats are in decline, the Bills are completely trashed, and the Jets are, well, the Jets.

The Dolphins have some defensive holes to fill, and need a threat receiver. If RB and RW are good next year, they'll be in a good spot to take the division.

Well remember the Patriots did handle the Colts until the fourth down play from their own side of the field. I would have expected the pats to get blown out in that game but it didn't happen. Julian Edelman can be a mini welker with a little practice. I think the Patriots will beat the Ravens again but lose to the chargers or Colts. It wouldn't be impossible for them to beat Indy though, Indy's D is pretty bad too.

The Bengals had no intention of winning the game last night. Not only was Cedric Benson inactive, so were three key defensive starters, Domata Peko, Robert Geathers, and Chris Crocker.

With Benson, Peko, and Geathers active on Saturday, the Jets don't stand a chance.

Don't get ahead of yourselves. The Bengals wins this year have largely come against subpar teams.

It's the Bengals. They, like the Jets, have always found interesting ways to lose.

LOL @ NFC predictions.

First off, Minny hasn't lost a game at home. 2nd, the only teams to come close to Minny at home were SF & BAL, and Destiny/Football Gods/Favre gave the niners the holy smack down, and made the winning kick whoosh left.

Which points to one thing, you cant beat destiny and the football gods have any home game for Minny on lockdown, by about 25 pts.

Which leads us to MIN @ NO being the only foreseeable NFC champ matchup. Looking at historical data, the Vikings played like crap last season @NO, and still won. Now the Minnesota Brett Favres will expose that defense and roll into Miami.

If Minnesota doesnt make the SB, they only have themselves to blame as Dallas did all of the leg work in giving Brett ideal conditions to play in until February.

That's cute you feel that way, but considering the Bengals offense looks like a bunch of high school kids at lunch time, I see them getting eaten alive... again.

Going into the playoffs there are 2 teams the Bengals dont want to see, The Vikings and The Jets. Why? because both teams crapped on them by like 30.

Are you familiar with the term "rope-a-dope?"

You play soft you risk serious injury to yourself and your teammates. If a team wants to play soft then that can only safely be done by sitting starters and/or calling terrible plays, which didn't seem to be the case in the first half at all.

Not challenging plays on the line, not jamming receivers, not bringing aggressive pass rushes.

All are designed to prevent injury and lull the opponent into running the same plays next week.

Arizona, Philly, and Cincinnati all did this.

Three Week 17 games are going to be replayed: Cardinals/Packers, Cowboys/Eagles, and Jets/Bengals. All three Week 17 games were blowouts. I wouldn't be surprised, in fact I expect, to see a different result in all three rematches. Not necessarily blowouts, but wins by the Cardinals, Eagles, and Bengals.

Glad to see there's some GB love comin' out this way.

I'm farkin' excited for this team. They're peaking right now and firing on all cylinders. They VERY rarely turn the ball over, cause a lot of turnovers, solid running game, awesome aerial game, and I think one factor that everyone is gonna forget about is an aggressive AZ defense is gonna overpursue A-Rodg and he's gonna have some runnin' room.

A-Rodg line:
19/26 265 yds, 1 TD Pass, 1 TD rush.

Packers win 28-14.

Because I'd like to tell you right now that it just doesnt work for the same way for a player up in Wisconsin. It doesnt seem cool or urbane. It seems weird. I know you're a huge Colts fan, but I'm wondering how you can pick the Ravens over Indy. We haven't lost to them in ages (irrelevant past the last couple of years) and the game at home this year definitely wasn't nearly as close as the score indicates. One tip interception and a fumble by Santi on the one yard line (after he got hit by the defensive hall of fame).
