Global warming isn't a hoax, you fool. It's real.

The lie is that it's caused by humans.

Read "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton. It's a good read.

His wager posited there were no detriments to belief.

"Yet as Britain struggles to cope with the freezing weather conditions, other countries throughout the world are also finding themselves in the same predicament."

1. I had to wear a heavy coat and gloves on the 4th of july when I was in the UK. I doubt it's a "struggle" to deal with freezing weather.

2. Other countries also find the have cold weather in the winter time? you don't say.

I guess that's why they started calling it climate change... you say "global warming" and people expect every place/season to actually be warmer than it was.

2010-01-04 04:20:12 AM
I can not believe that after all the of the threads on this topic, there are still people here so dumb that they STILL do not know the difference between meteorology and climatology.

Also, unless you're incredibly unlucky and Earth's climate suddenly decides to remain static for the remainder of your career, you'll look like a genius for predicting that it will, in fact, change.

The weather and the climate are two different things.

CO2 in the atmosphere doesn't mean shiat if the Sun is kickin it up a notch.

2010-01-04 04:23:48 AM
Just because the global average temp is going to up 5°C doesn't mean it goes up exactly 5°C everywhere. Some places will actually get colder because winds and currents will change. Weather will get more extreme and for every place it gets really cold, there are few more places where it will get really really hot.

2010-01-04 04:25:38 AM
Average - 268°C.
Today - 273°C
Difference - 1,8%

The sunspots run in an 11-year cycle. Global warming has gone on for decades.

Bloody freezing here in Derby, UK, in our coldest winter for a couple of decades.

Thank goodness for global warming. Think how cold it WOULD have been.

Ender's: His wager posited there were no detriments to belief.

And the same applies here. The "you'd hate to be wrong" is a reasonable and workable idea, even if you disagree with a theory, religious or not.

I remember sitting on a plane next to a crazy biatch thought it was stupid that such an empty CRJ required people to sit next to each other due to the weight and balance of the plane. After the F/A left explaining just that, I said to her: "well, you'd hate to be wrong about that." I got a dirty look.

So wait:
Locations more than 25 degrees above the equator have colder than normal winters + overall yearly average temperature (taken before October) is higher than normal + "El nino year" + Global Warming is an unassailable fact + Humans are DEFINITELY THE CAUSE + I hate and never believe the Government - Scientific accountability = STFU?

I love you, Fark. You made math fun.

There was no proof in this article against Global Warmingtm just as there is no proof that connects what is happening to the climate now with the actions of human beings.

It is farking COLD where I am. However, it's been colder, and it's been warmer.

The older I get, the more amused I am by people who point to something happening now as evidence of anything. Even the climatologists are not pointing to this one cold week and saying "SEE? WE WERE RIGHT! CLIMATE CHANGE IS REAL!"

This is what we used to call a "cold snap".

It's a farking week of cold weather, people. Calm the fark down. If the entire history of this planet is an erect, steadfast cock, this week is a dust mite on a pubic hair.

2010-01-04 04:51:20 AM
Worth noting that, unless I missed it in my drunken stupor, only the submitter made the anti-global warming claim. The article just has pretty snow pictures, and who doesn't love those?

I fully understand your point. However, it has no place in this discussion. Sorry.

Your argument states that belief in a God will a.) not harm you to believe it and can b.) save your ass in the afterlife.

Basically a win/win.

Belief in this means spending money on it. A lot of money. Fortunately, Al Gore has setup a multitude of emerging corporations to deal with just such a demand. Good for those who believe and for those who want to pay for their belief.
