don't tempt them. They will create an entirely seperate agency for just that job. The TEOA (Transportation Exit Only Agency)

It's been a while, but I don't recall Newark Airport being that terrible. LAX sucks balls to be stuck in. Everything farking closes at 11 and if you don't have a club pass you are just left among the damned. Laguardia also sucks because it farking fills up with annoying New York assfaces so fast.

2010-01-04 12:23:22 AM
Don't worry, guys! It may inconvenience some people, but what are the lives of a few hundred nobodies compared to someone going through the wrong door? Let's get some perspective, people!

Being stuck in a damned airport sucks bad enough without them cramming it full of everyone they can find, even from loaded planes!

And, if the person going "in" the exit was a cop or high ranking airport official, you will NEVER hear who it was; AKA "We could not identify the individual."

Hey, I've been stuck onboard a jet at Newark for nearly six hours until they cleaned up an overturned fuel tanker. It sucks.

The State Department lists Cuba, Iran, Sudan and Syria as state sponsors of terrorism.

I can understand the three because of all the stuff that goes on there, but Cuba is totally out there.

I was stuck there overnight over 20 years ago. Thank you PEOPLExpress. BTW, I stole the stapler from Counter 13.

When will TSA begin a program that requires all passengers to enter an airport through a specific built processing center-- where they will be scanned/searched, given a jumpsuit without pockets to wear aboard an aircraft, and all personal belongings taken from them and then kept isolated from all others until ready to board.

2010-01-04 12:32:53 AM
The TSA plays where's waldo while you bathe in the glorious delight that is plane travel. awesome. I can't wait to fly again.

2010-01-04 12:35:46 AM
Oh no, someone walked through the wrong door!

Are they dangerous?

Possibly. We'd better crowd every person in the airport into this area at once. What could go wrong?

2010-01-04 12:36:11 AM
I liked the msnbc news flash headline

"BREAKING NEWS: Newark Airport's Terminal C in lockdown due to security breech, TSA says"

Spot the typo, it is a hilarious one. Especially if you wiki the meaning of the word.

I'm trying to decide if it's a good idea to say something to them when I catch a connection there tuesday...

So when they caught the guy -- why didn't they beat the crap out of him? or at least make him pay for screwing up a few thousand flights.

I could have sworn there was a time in this country where one was responsible for their actions and paid a price for their mistakes.

The fact that someone could not only do this but do it without getting a single frame of video taken of him or her is just plain flabbergasting.

lobootomy: salmo: Newark is the worst airport on the planet.

Uh, Bangkok International, unless it has been remodeled in the past five years, was far worse.

Even then I'm sure the worst airports in the world are in Africa.

One of the janitors at Newark hit me in the back of the head with a broom while I was taking a piss (in the restroom, not like I was peeing on the filthy, decrepit carpet). Then he started screaming obscenities and threatening other restroom patrons. I managed to find the facilities management office (looong layover) and attempted to complain. I was told, and I quote, "fark off." I stand by my claim.

Back in high school, "Newark" was a euphemism for having sex. For instance, "I went to Newark with the new, young science teacher, Miss Smith." It worked in so many ways.

"Miss Smith and I went to Newark on the train."
"Miss Smith and I carpooled to Newark with Steven and Wendy."
"Miss Smith and I were going to Newark, but I got a flat tire."

/has no idea with which friend this originated or why

Ever noticed how there's just one TSA guy posted at those exit lanes, bored out of his mind, who's supposed to notice if someone walks through the wrong way.

Dude was probably flirting with the screener in the lane behind him instead of watching the door.

They have a new international airport in Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi International, and except for the lack of wifi, it's quite nice, although my opinion was colored by the fact that I was coming down with the worst flu I've had in my life as I was waiting to leave. It's not quite as nice as Incheon in Korea or Narita in Japan, but one of the better international airports I've been in. LAX, on the other hand, sucks almost as much as Heathrow, and JFK isn't far behind. Sofia, Bulgaria's airport was like stepping through a time warp into Soviet Russia.

2010-01-04 12:49:35 AM
I can't wait for these guys to get their own union. because that's JUST what the TSA needs to solve all their problems....

2010-01-04 12:49:47 AM
How the hell did this happen? Every exit I've seen is guarded by no fewer than 3 TSA agents, so there's no way anyone could walk in without being stopped. What's more odd is how the TSA know that someone walked in the exit, but they don't know who- how'd they find out?

Well, at least I know I'm safe because I have to take my shoes off to be X-Ray'd.

The terrorists really have it easy. They can just sit back while we terrorize ourselves, send in some looser with a half baked scheme, that probably won't work, every few years to let us know they are still out there, and blow the rest of the money on caviar and virgins.

2010-01-04 12:50:54 AM
If this airport security craziness gets any worse, I just might finally start looking seriously into taking freighters for international travel. Of course, then there's pirates to worry about, but between Somali piracy and the TSA, I think it's a tossup.

I was in Bangkok last March. No bad memories whatsoever. Remember lots of glass with natural sunlight and everything being quite modern. So perhaps there was a remodel.

While I'm thinking about it, I'm going to just put this prediction out there. I think that the next threat to an airliner is going to come from a woman traveling on a passport from somewhere in either Europe or Asia or a US passport, who is wearing an underwire bra and has replaced the removable push-up pads with push-up pads made from explosive material.

One thing I've discovered from the fact that I have a bad habit of forgetting that one belt I have always sets off the alarm is that when they wand me, the underwire in my bra always sets off the beeping, but because it's an expected beep they totally ignore it. A terrorist could replace the underwire with a detonator wire and the TSA probably wouldn't notice.
